    1. RE: Naturalization papers in NJ 1910-1920
    2. Joan M Lowry
    3. Hi Lucy Naturalization papers for 1910-1920 are available for NJ. In most cases, however, they are going to be County records, rather than state or federal. They tend to be County Clerk records and are often associated with the local passport office in the county courthouse. If you believe that the people you are researching would have been naturalized in Middlesex County, then you need to check with the Middlesex County Clerk's Office. Check this website for more information: http://www.co.middlesex.nj.us/countyclerk/passport.asp This is what the website says about Naturalization records : NATURALIZATION RECORDS: The County Clerk's office has petitions of naturalization on file for individuals who became United States citizens at the Middlesex County Courthouse from 1806 through 1991. The microfilms are available to the public for viewing, or, if the year of petition or naturalization is known, we will research it for you. There is a $2.00 fee per page copied and a $5.00 fee for a letter of verification if needed. FOR FURTHER INFORMATION, PLEASE CALL (732) 745-5723 OR (732) 296-6993. Hope that helps! Joan Joan M. 2. Dear Jackie, I have no idea what faith these people might have belonged to.....they may have been Quakers for all I know. Captain Edward sailed from the pool of London to the colonies so he could have been Church of England . On the other hand, he moved to West Jersey by 1690 , which was a Quaker hang out. Jessie.

    3. Jessie, The White Church Cemetery may be St. James Episcopal Church on Woodbridge Ave in Edison. That area was also called Nixon (may still be by some) and many many years ago Piscatawaytown. I don't know if the church keeps the records or not. My husband's grandparents and aunt are buried there and just recently by walking through we discovered some other's that may be connected. Just thought of something. I think I should find out what plots or plot numbers they're in. I don't have a clue, just know where the graves are from going there for years.. Thanks for helping me think of it! 3. Two things....... Please note that the top of some of the list messages have the following note on them: "This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list." This means there is a 99% chance the person who posted the message is NOT a member of the mailing list. So answering or asking a questions of the poster on the list serves NO purpose. Please pay attention to this so that you and the poster are not left dangling out in space wondering why there was no response. Number #2 Most of you have heard that there is an organization called the NJGENWEB. Members provide web pages for all NJ counties, including Middlesex Co. On the web site, if you read past the first page, are many pages of information provided by lots of volunteers including members of this list. (More information is always welcome and needed!!!!!!) Spend some time and get familiar with the site. Two different transcriptions of the cemetery records of the First Presbyterian Church of Woodbridge are available on or from the page. Please folks, I don't mean to sound sarcastic or crabby but (I've been down with the flu and haven't eaten in a week)try Google or dogpile or some kind of search engine to find out what is on-line. You'll be amazed! We are all getting "lazy" (including me, I'll be the first to admit it) and have come to expect our computer and our lists to provide instant gratification. Trust me, it takes a bit more effort to make it worthwhile! Off my soap box......thank you for bearing with me!*LOL* But here's the good news. If you haven't tried this particular Google search you must try it: http://www.genealogy-search-help.com/ It comes close to providing some of that "instant" gratification I was talking about. Those of us researching common names.....Brown, Down, Up, White,Mount, etc. may have to wait a bit longer but I did have excellent results with Applegate! Pat

I believe my mother's parents are also buried there. They both died in 1929. A relative searched for a stone for them, but didn't find any. I wondered if there might be one for little Jackie. She was burned by a sparkler or firecracker and died from her injuries. I wanted to be sure that we were looking in the right cemetery. Thank you again for your help.
