    1. St. Peter`s/ McSpaden/ Haggerty
    2. Time to check in and see if anyone else is interested in the Haggerty and McSpaden families in New Brunswick. Daniel and Nancy Haggerty look to have arrived in the US 16 May 1826, and first show up in NB in 1830, purchasing land. James McSpaden and family arrived in the US 31 May 1832, with 3 young sons, including a 2 year old! He then hid until about 1845 when he applied for citizenship and purchased land in NB. James` son Henry married Eliza Haggerty. Roman Catholics, they were members of St. Peter`s. I was also wondering if they have made any progress in opening up their archives. I have had limited success in the past, with a promise of better days ahead. Take care, Kevin

    1. List Admin - Vacations & Unsubscribing
    2. Pat Mount
    3. VACATION TIME is here! Please read and save these instructions! AND have a wonderful time whatever you do and wherever you go! TIA, Pat Mount List Admin Previously published in RootsWeb Review: 16 June 2004, Vol. 7, No. 24. RootsWeb Mailing Lists -- Gone Fishing? "Summertime and the livin' is easy" is how the familiar song from "Porgy and Bess" goes. For RootsWeb users in the Northern Hemisphere, summer is nearly here and that often brings with it vacations (holidays), long weekend fishing trips, beach house visits or trips to the cabin in the mountains. All of which means time away from genealogical research, time away from your computer and your e-mail. What should you do when you are going to be away temporarily from your RootsWeb mailing lists? Depending upon the length of time you will be away, the capacity of your mailbox, and the activity level of the lists to which you subscribe; you may choose either to remain subscribed to the lists and catch up on your mail when you return or unsubscribe (especially from the busiest high- volume lists) and re-subscribe when you get home. RootsWeb list software does not have a temporary "NO-MAIL" setting. However, unsubscribing and re-subscribing is easy and will accomplish the purpose. If you choose to unsubscribe from all, or just some, RootsWeb mailing lists during your vacation, first check Password Central to verify to which lists you are subscribed. http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ Once you obtain a list of your subscribed lists, address a new e-mail message to the list "request" addresses for the lists from which you wish to unsub. The "request" address is used to send your command or instructions that can either unsubscribe or subscribe you from a list. The format for addressing a message to the request address is: [email protected] --if you are subscribed in mail mode (receiving every individual message list members send to the list) or [email protected] --if you are subscribed in digest mode (receiving list messages lumped together in digest format). Replace the generic word LISTNAME above with the actual name of the list. For instance, if you wish to unsubscribe from the SMITH surname list and you are subscribed in mail mode, send your request to: [email protected] or [email protected] to unsubscribe from the digests. Be sure to put the word UNSUBSCRIBE in the subject and message body of your e-mail and don't include any other text. If you wish to unsubscribe from more than one list at the same time, you can show multiple "request" addresses in the SEND TO box of your e-mail with the addresses separated by a comma just as you would if you were sending an e-mail to several individuals at one time. Keep a record of the mailing list names for the lists from which you have unsubbed so that you can easily address a new e-mail to the same list request addresses when you return with the word SUBSCRIBE in the subject and message body to get back on the lists you temporarily left. Note: Never send a REPLY e-mail to subscribe to, or unsubscribe from, a list -- always send a NEW e-mail. Upon your return from summer fun, you can browse the archives of your mailing lists to catch up on the messages you missed. Start here: http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ Type in the name of the list you wish to browse and then select the month and year to view an outline of the messages you wish to read. Next, click to view any or all individual messages. So, if the fish are biting this summer or the seashore looks inviting, leave the laptop at home and don't worry about the "the big one" getting away because you are not home to view responses to your genealogical research queries. You can catch up with mailing list messages when you return.

    1. What is shown on 1860 birth cert in NJ?
    2. First time writer to the NJ list. My great-aunt was born in Perth Amboy, NJ in 1860 and before I send away to the Latter Day Saints for a microfilm to possibly get her birth cert. number, I was wondering if anyone knows what info is shown thereon? Would it be worth my while to rent the film? Also, since my gr-grandparents lived in NJ at that time, how can I find out if they were married in NJ or before leaving Ireland? Thank you. 1. Early LEMON, BARTON, CURRENT records
    2. Marilyn Current
    3. Thank you so much, Kirsten. Whatever record searches you think would be most productive. For time frames & places: William Current was b. abt. 1740 in Northern Ireland. Came to America 1745-47, just a boy- probably 5-12 years old, orphaned enroute. What port might that have been in? Tradition says he came directly to NJ. But, might that have been a NY port? Taken in by Elisha Barton and wife as indentured servant immediately. Which Elisha Barton? (Must be one b. at least by 1720 to qualify as indenture-holder.) Where did this Barton family live? NY or NJ? What type of trade were they in? - linen mill industry? William willed an entire weaving/loom house, with tackling, to his children. Where did he learn this trade, if not during his indenture? Would there be a record of such an early indenture somewhere? Joseph Lemon buys land in Beaver Brook, Oxford Twp., Sussex Co. in 1772 - first record I have of him. Joseph Lemon's daughter Esther and William Current were already married prior to this date. (Guessing abt. 1765, based on their age and birth of their first child.) Where did they meet and marry? (A marriage record would be awesome!) Were Wm. & Esther with Joseph when he bought land in Sussex Co? First record of William Current is 1773 tax rolls, Oxford, Sussex co. Where-ever Joseph Lemon was prior to buying land in Oxford, William was certainly in the same place. Found Lemons by various spellings in Orange Co., NY, as well as most areas covered by early Burlington Co., NJ. Any type of earlier records would be awesome! 2. Terrie Lynn Bittner
    3. Thank you! I belong to the FitzRandolph site, so I'll look for it there. I"m particularly looking for Ezekial Bloomfield. The Salyers I'm looking for probably don't have a different version of the name, since they had it earlier and later. I've found all sorts of things on FitzRandolphs, Bloomfields and my other NJ ancestors, but nothing at all on those Salyers. They must have been quiet people! I'm hoping to find where they tended to bury their families in hopes of tracking down Ezekial's wife's last name-or at least to get some dates that will tie her to the person I hope she actually is!
