Hello New Jersey Researchers: We have received a great amount of email requesting information concerning Indentured Servants and Apprentices sent to the early Colonies. It would be impossible to list the over 10,000 here so we are including an overview of the process and hope it will explain the how and why. We have titled the page Indentured Servants and Apprentices Sent to the American Colonies 1654-1686. The piece was written by Peter Wilson Coldham as an introduction to one of his excellent immigration reference works and contains much usefull information that will touch many of our lines somewhere. You will find the page located on our web page listed below: The URL is. http://www.linkline.com/personal/xymox/ Once there you will be looking for the link FAMILY INDEX PAGE. On the Family Index Page enter through the link SERVANTS AND APPRENTICES SENT TO THE AMERICAN COLONIES 1654-1686. For those of you who are AOL members you may have trouble connecting to many pages that may come up with a message such as "Page Does Not Exist" and you can cure that by using your browser feature of Copy and Paste the URL to your browser and then enter from there. All pages contained within our web pages are free for viewing and study by all interested researchers. Enjoy Harold Oliver Director America's First Families

Hope somebody can help me. I'm trying to figure out any possible relationship, professional or otherwise, between the "Squire" John Terhune family and the family of Cornelius Hardenbergh of New Brunswick. The 1855 city directory shows Terhune's office at 31 Albany and Hardenbergh's at 76 Albany--I assume these would have been fairly close together but does anyone know for sure about the lay-of-the-land along Albany? Both were lawyers..both prominent local families..both had sons born in 1830 (Augustus Hardenbergh and the Reverend Edward P. Terhune). Anybody know more?

I have had no luck finding any information on my 5th great-grandfather, Hezekiah (Zedekiah...and who knows what other spellings) Pack. I believe he resided in Woodbridge from at least 1810 to at least 1830. I am not sure since I have no birth or death information. I believe he is the of forty but under 50 in the 1830 Woodbridge census. Both of his wives died young (the wives were cousins) and were buried in their family's church's cemetery in Westfield. I believe he remained in Woodbridge after his last wife's death in 1821. If any one with any information or any desire to help would contact me, I would be most grateful. By the way, Hezekiah's marriages are in the New Jersey marriage compilation. Would the actual marriage docuemnt give his DOB, precise age or even his parents name? If so, please let me know and I will order myself a copy!

They were Isaac (Van) Trump and Abigail Sayre Pack. Isaac's pension documents state that they were married Sept. 19, 1838 in New Market, New Jersey. Affidavits in the documents state that they were married at the home of and by the Reverend William B. Maxon. I believe Mr. Maxon to the husband of Isaac's aunt. This marriage is not contained in the New Jersey marriage records compilation. Abby herself states that she was not able to find any record of the marriage when applying for pension status. Does any one know what church the Reverend Maxon was working for or with when he lived in New Market. I thought perhaps a church record my exist somewhere. I would appreciate any help anyone can offer.

I'm not sure what newspaper that would be but some are on line. I did check the Times but thats a Trenton paper, sometimes they do have other obits to, and I checked the Journal but nothing came up under that last name. Maybe someone who live in that area could tell you what newspaper and then you might be able to look on line for the obit. The two I checked you can check back a few months I think. Mary Keziah Thorp (known also as simply Keziah) was born on April 06, 1706 in Woodbridge, Middlesex Co., NJ to Joseph Thorp and Hannah (Anna) Richards. She married Job Conger (b. Jun 09, 1694 in Woodbridge to Capt. John Belconger and Sarah) Mary Keziah's father Joseph Thorp was born abt. 1667 on Long Island, NY and died on Jul 19, 1749 in Piscataway, NJ. His parents were Thomas Thorp (b. 1631 in Ipswich MA, d. Dec 22, 1694 in Woodbridge, NJ) and Rebecca Milward (b. 1640 in Gloucester, MA, d. 1677 in Woodbridge, NJ). Thomas Thorp's parents were John Thorp (b. 1600 in Duxbury, MA to Thomas Milward and Alsop. d. 1633 in Duxbury, MA) and Alice Chandler (d. Dec 24 1667). Rebecca Milward's parents were Thomas Milward (b. abt 1600 possibly in Eaton, England, d. 1653 in Newbury, MA) and Ann Goodale (b. abt. 1600 in Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, England to John Goodale and Elizabeth Beachena, d. Nov 27, 1690 Newbury, MA) Mary Keziah's mother Hannah Richards was possibly the daughter of Paulus Richards, who was, I believe a merchant in New York? I haven't looked into this bit much yet. I too descend from Mary Keziah Thorp and Job Conger, and have a bit more if this helps! =) Carissa ( [email protected] )

You can try the Diocese of Metuchen which Perth Amboy would fall under. Someone said Holy Spirit but I believe it was founded at a later date than you are looking for. I think St Mary's might be older and a place to start. Hello, The only McCabe I know was "Eleanor McCabe " of Jersey City,NJ. She married "Roger Housell" in the late 1950's, they had a daughter Pat, and later divorced. Larry 7/1 Thank you Larry for your interest in my inquiry. You know I did know a Mrs. McCabe out of Jersey City, she was a school teacher at St. Bridget's; however, I know this is not the person I'm searching for, actually, if I may share, this person is my biological mother. I just find it outragous that no one from the Donellen area has responded...I've checked in that area and found out that there is a large # of Sweigarts. Its just so frustrating, I'm trying to obtain some info on the "cause of death" on my mother, it was wiped out and I understand from her brother, John, who has passed on that her body layed in the Morgue for some 2 years before he got notice of her death. Thank you again for your input. Good luck in your research or search.
