Did sons ever witness wills? I have a will for James McCabe Jun., written and proven in 1813, East Windsor Twp, Middlesex county which is now Mercer county, (Will - Middlesex, 10422L) It says James has 6 sons, 4 of whom are to be put to trades, John, Isaac, Obediah and David. The other 2 are not named but Zedekiah McCabe is a witness, all sons are to receive equal share at 21. Also dau, Edith McCabe. Mary his wife mentioned and also executor. Now my theory was that Zedekiah was James' son, and he could be one of the two older unnamed sons, but would he have witnesses his own father's will?

Dear Jennifer, Dutch Churches. Middlesex County 1700s. Many on Route 27 would have gone to the Six Mile Run Church. Even though it is considered Somerset County it sat right on the border of the two counties. There were also Dutch churches in Harlingen in Somerset and in New Brunswick. You can check online for Dutch Churches and see ones in the areas you are researching. South Brunswick and Cranbury are in the southern part of Middlesex County. Some of the names you mentioned would also have had people living in Monmouth County to the east of Middlesex County. Some Dutch also attended Presbyterian Churches due to convenience or other reasons. So you may find some Dutch records or information in them as the Kingston Presbyterian Church, other Presbyterian Churches in Franklin Township for those of your family living west of Route 27 and also the Cranbury Presbyterian Church in Cranbury. There must be others, but they are the earliest main ones I know about in this corridor. I would offer to take Grove's grave picture, but don't have a plot map at this time. I can do it, but not just now.
