There is a picture of "The Home for Soldiers' Orphans, Hamilton Avenue, 1883" in Images of America, Trenton by Cathleen Crown and Carol Rogers. It shows a group of children in front of the building. The caption says "A large number of children were left fatherless by the war against the South. Following the last child's move into self-subsistence, the Children's Home Society returned this structure to the State. It was used to house the school for New Jersey's deaf. Evolving into the Katzenbach School for the Deaf, the orphanage was replaced with a lovely campus on Trenton's western border."
