My uncle, David Gardner, entered a contest in Parade or Parade of Youth and his second place winning answers to eight "life questions" was evidently published in that publication 18 Jan 1837. Does anyone know what it was? Was it a magazine or part of the newspaper? He got "fan mail" from all over the country from people who liked his answers, mostly young girls, he was 19 at the time and evidently in question #8 he said he didn't like girls who smoked and drank, and some young men who felt the same also wrote and a few men, one even had a job offer from North Carolina. He also praised farm life and nature and old fashion values, in the question answers, from the content of the letters. Since they lived at Edgebrook, Hamilton Township, Mercer Co. I am wandering if it was in the Trenton papers, but I have not looked yet as I just found the letters. One letter was from a George Woolsey, 218 Park Lane, Trenton who said he thought they could become close friends and pals because even though he lived in the city, he used to live on a farm that his family owned for 200 years and his desire was to become a chicken farmer, too. I'd like to hear from anyone related to George Woosley, too, as they may be interested in the letter. Anita
