Greetings, Does anyone out there know how a person 200 years ago would have gone about obtaining an alias? I have a William Daugherty, alias Conner in my line and I'm wondering if he applied to a county OR a state office. Would the NJ State Archives have a record of this? Thank you, Dan Conner Nebraska
