My great-great grandmother's obituary indicated that she was a member of that, too: "Mrs. Witmer was a member of Betsy Ross Council, No. 101, Sons and Daughters of Liberty.", according to an explanation in a book in the Trenton library, the "Sons and Daughters of Liberty...was founded in 1877 as a 'patriotic and nationalistic' fraternal benefit society in the United States. It was open to white Protestants only and excluded those who manufactured or sold intoxicating liquor. Based in Philadelphia, the order is long extinct."
