Thanks to y'all for giving of your time with my question on Greenwood Avenue, in Trenton. How I miss New Jersey & PA. Once a Yankee always a Yankee! Thanks! "Peace be with you" Dorothy Thornton MacKenzie Popham surname: MacKenzie, Thornton, Dey, Birch, Grover, on & on......
Found an interesting little tidbit in an old Allentown Messenger column that someone might find interesting. This copy wasn't dated but probably 10 Jan 1907, in the Edgebrook column. I don't have any information on these people, I had copied the page for the column written about how Edgebrook got its name on the same page. I descend from Ayres and Dilatush of the area who lived on the farm called Edgebrook. Edgebrook is between Robbinsville and Yardville, Hamilton Twp, near Washington Twp, Mercer Co. NJ. "In the year 1846 Pearson Evernham and Mary his wife, purchased what in now known as the Evernham farm, owned and occupied by Allen G. Hendrickson and wife, the latter being granddaughter of Mr and Mrs. Evernham. During the 61 years that the place has been in the family there has never been a marriage ceremony performed there, all the daughters having been married at the homes of the preachers. Only one birth ever has taken place there, and that was in 1850, when Henrietta, the youngest child of Mr.and Mrs. Evernham, was born. There have been six deaths: Mr. Evernham, who was born in 1800, died in 1880; Mrs. Evernham, born in 1808, died in 1899; Joanna and Henrietta, small children, died in 1852; Mary Elizabeth, a grown daughter, died in 1900. One hundred years after the birth of her father, Mary Hendtickson, mother of Allen G. Hendrickson, died in 1901.
Howdy from Texas, Does anyone know where Greenwood Avenue, Trenton, NJ is? My grand father lived there in 1931. This information came from my mother's wedding announcement from one of the papers in Trenton, N.J. Grand fathers name was Homer C Thornton. Looking for any information anyone can give me. Thanks for the help. "Peace be with you" Dorothy MacKenzie Popham

Am looking for information on my 3rd grgrandparents Henry NUNEMAKER and Jane (CAFFEY) NUNEMAKER, who lived in Ewing Township in Mercer County. Jane died between 1850-1860 and Henry between 1860-1870. Need to find their death dates to locate burial place and possibly luck out and find a death record. Known children were: Eliza, Mary E., Sarah Elizabeth( m. Jonas K. Pippen), and George H. I have received from different mailling lists, a request to pass on a chain-letter from a person claiming to be a child who has brain cancer. This is a HOAX and (I believe) was propogated so that the originator could gather e-mail addresses for a less-than-honorable purpose. I checked it out at the "Make-A-Wish Foundation" home page, http://www.wish.org/ To quote them briefly: "Each day, the Make-A-Wish Foundation National Office and chapters receive hundreds of inquiries regarding chain letters claiming to be associated with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. As a matter of policy, the Make-A-Wish Foundation does not conduct these types of wishes-including Internet and e-mail requests. Below are the chain letters currently circulating around the world. . ." Before passing something on, it is a good idea to check it out - Just a thought Pat B
Just letting everyone know that I have sent the last section of Vol. L of the New Jersey Marriage Bonds to the manager of the NJ GenWeb Archives. This is a milestone for me as it is the completion of the 5th of 10 reels of microfilm on these marriages, so I'm half way finished with the project. It's "only" take 10 months to get to this point! The "Table of Contents" for the NJ GenWeb Archives is: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/nj/njfiles.htm The marriage bonds can be accessed by going to the bottom of the page to "State Wide Archives" and clicking on "Marriage Records". There is also a very good search engine on the Contents page, but be very creative in spelling the surnames you are interested in; your ancestors and the county clerks that recorded in information certainly were! I am committed to finishing this project, so please bear with me! Pat B
Hi, The fortune city address does not have the most recent additions to the Trenton Directories (complete 1882 & partial 1900). The complete available listings can be found on the Old Mill Hill Society website under the local history page. http://oldmillhillsociety.org/ Some other recent additions are another obituary, for John J. Cleary (author of many articles on Trenton history) which can be found under Obituaries on the Mill Hill Obituaries page. http://oldmillhillsociety.org/research/obits.htm Three of Cleary's articles have been posted on the Odds and Ends page. Most of the info in them pertains to the Mill Hill area but the July 21 article contains a letter about the Bonapartes which might be of wider interest. http://oldmillhillsociety.org/research/OddsAndEnds.htm All future additions to the city directories (such as completion of the 1900 edition) will be posted to this address: http://oldmillhillsociety.org/research/directories.htm At some point the fortune city address will be reassigned but for the time being the old files are still there. G'day Mercer listers: I am writing to ask whether anyone on this list might be able to do me a favor. I am interested in finding the full record for Julia MASTERSON in the 1860 federal census for Princeton Twp, Mercer Co, NJ. From an index on Ancestry.com, she appears on p. 617 of this census. I believe that she may be my 3xg grandmother, but I am having great difficulty tracing her. Significantly, she is not indexed for the 1870 census. I'd love to see whom she is living with in 1860, if anyone. I might get lucky and find her with a known relative. From there, I may request a 10-year death search, but I'm reluctant to spend money ($1.00US = $1.58Aus) unless I can come up with something more than a wish that she might be mine. Thanks ever so much to anyone who can help me with this lookup. Mary Jo C. Martin Melbourne, Australia martinsm@ocean.com.au Mary Jo C. Martin Melbourne, Australia martinsm@ocean.com.au
Hi. I've recently subscribed... looking for anyone searching for the surname Scoby or any variation of the spelling. Even have seen it spelled Scober. Anyone out there looking for this name? This would be in the 1770's-1800's. I know there were Scobys, Scobees, Scobies, Scobeys on the tax lists as well as the federal censuses. Joanne Scobee Morgan
