Hello there, looking for Patterson surname that may have lived in the area in the 17-early 1800's before ending up in Monmouth County, NJ. Any one else tracing the Patterson line? Gary, Your website is like taking a trip home to Trenton. Many thanks for the History of Trenton chapters you've added. Charles Hughes was a relative of mine, so it was fascinating to me. Also, my Grandfather was placed in the Union Home and I always wondered about that place, but it's hard to research living here in Manassas. Now I know how desperate my Ggrandmother must have been after her husband's death to put three kids in there AND THEN get them back five years later..... Can't wait to read the other chapters, esp. the Rev and Civil War chapters. Thanks for a LONG night of reading last evening. I couldn't wait to get back to it tonight. Pamela Myer Sackett Manassas, VA Currently Researching: TAMS, AMISON, MYER/MYERS/MEYER (all spellings), WILLEY, ANDERSON, ASBURY
Gary, Thanks so much for making that resource available to all of us! Holly Knott in Bucks Co., NJ

>From the Warren Republican , Friday 6/23/1899 Badly Burned Ada Lillian Willever, second daughter of Mr. And Mrs. J. Stewart Willever, aged 12 years and 6 days, was terribly burned last Saturday which resulted in death at her parents home on Plane street Sunday noon. Her clothing caught fire from a bonfire in the Institute grounds, and immediately her whole body was in flames. Some boys who were near by, hearing her her screams, ran to her assistance and smothered the flames. She was taken to her home and a physician called. She was badly burned about the back and shoulders, and lived until the next day at noon.. The girl was to have taken part in the Children's Day exercises in the M.E. church last Sunday afternoon. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon. I have an ancestor, William Connell, who was killed in GA and is buried at the Marietta National Cemetery. Where can I find the records on him? NJ Library or NJ Archives? Thank you.
It is across the street from the Trenton train station. Not sure what the hours are - I tried to go in May in the late afternoon, and it was locked. Hi Lori, I saw your message on Memories. I used to live in Trenton, born there in 1933 and left there in 1969, I also left my heart there, just like in the song. I still go back, and see family, but boy has that town changed. I found your request interesting, as a lot of my family were potters, back it the 1800s. My sister and brother both worked for pottery's in Trenton in the 1950s. There was some talk about Trenton Pottery's on the NJMERCER-L@rootsweb.com awhile back. Someone made a list of all the poetry's that was in Trenton. I'm not sure if I made a copy of it or not. I'll check it out for you, and get back. If I can't find any thing, you can put your message on the NJMERCER list, and you might also get a lot of help from there. None of the names you mentioned are in my family lines, as far as I know, but I'm also going to check my family tree. Another interesting site, is the E Bay site. I'm always in there and I just type in Trenton, and a lot of things are for sale from the Trenton Pottery's. Good luck. Walt Disbrow, Pocono Mts. of PA. hi all, i'm new to the list and i have some questions to start me off. i'm looking for Edwin Nelson WOOD whom i believe was born in NJ in 1820. i have found an Edwin WOOD who was the same age in the 1850 census in Nottingham, Mercer Cty. the wife was not what my records have but then i found and Edwin in a history book of Mercer Cty that had no dates but said he was married 3 times. it gave his 1st wife's name but no others. my questions are: what records are available for that time period (1820-1860) for that area? what churches would have been around during that time and are their records available? (i don't think they were catholic because my Edwin was a Mason but i'm not ruling it out yet). how about cemeteries? land records? i'm really stuck on this branch and i'd love to connect the Edwin i have later in life to the one from Mercer. thanks for your help! diane
