Hi All, Would anyone know about a publication entitled "Everybody's Ancestry"? I'm looking for this publication, but Rutgers Alexander Library apparently doesn't have it. I'd like to see Vol. 1, Issue 4, October 1917. Thank you, Dan in Nebraska
Hi All, USGenWeb site lists two cemeteries in or near Rosemont. "Johnson Family Burying Grounds" and "Rosemont Burial Ground". Would anyone know are these the ONLY cemeteries in/near Rosemont? If so, I'm wondering if anyone would be willing and able to look and see if there are any CONNERs buried there and what the birth and death dates would be and if there are any other inscriptions. I warmly thank you for your consideration, Dan Conner
Hi Cindi Zimmerman, In answer to your questions about your Hoaglands and Bakers, my Somerset County Historical Society, Vol. 1, 1912: pages 292-3: Baker, Aaron W and Emma A. Herder, May 19, 1864 (Romaine) Baker, Frederick and anne E. Willett, June 17, 1866 (Mabie) Baker, George and Julia Ann Blair, Mar 25, 1868 (Rankin) Baker, John and Charity Cole, Mar 2, 1803 (Studdiford) Baker Lucas S. and Catherine Ann Van Doren, Sept 23,1846 (Sears) Baker, Matthew and Elizabeth Van Syne, Aug 24, 1811 (Zabriskie) Baker, Milton and Henrietta Boozer, Apr 5, 1855 (Ludlow) I didn't find the folks you're searching for in the cemetery records I have. I think they might be in the more northern section of Somerset County, however.....Same reference, page 101 says: "In 1744 application was made to lay out a "two-rod road from the bridge at Mr. Bairefoot Brunson's on west side of Millstone River to the road to the bridge over Millstone river at ye old mill, Mayr. Harrison's." A four-rod road was laid out in 1744, "beginning from ye main road leading from Rocky Hill to New Brunswick, passing Griggstown Mill over the bridge over Millstone river at Christopher Hoagland['s, and past William Beard's, Barnet Hagemans', Saml. Baker's and Daniel Spader's to the main road to the Court House of Somerset." In 1745 a road was laid from Peapack to "Lamington Meeting-house," and in 1747, one from Peter Schenck's mill to the Middlebush road. " I posted to the list, also, in case anyone else might be interested. Sharon Moore Colquhoun Belle Mead NJ http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hscc/

Hi list, this is my first post to this list. I'm hoping there is someone here that can help me or direct me to the right place. I have HARRIET MCCOWAN (one document shows it as MCGOWAN) was born in 1840 in Trenton, NJ; she was daughter of WILLIAM L. MCCOWAN and MARINDA MATTHEWS, but I have not confirmed this information. One source shows WILLIAM and MARINDA as being born in Allegany County (spell?), PA. At this point, I would like to find out more about HARRIET's birth and birthplace. Any help would be most appreciated. (census info would be especially useful as well as how to confirm her birth and parents' names) Thanks in advance. Vera & Jim Poole jpvp@lvcm.com

Is there someone who can do a look up in the 1870 census for me. I am looking for information on: CONNELL, James, Jeremiah, John & Julia I found them in the index on pg 277, 1W Trenton. Thank you Arlene
Does anyone have any information on the surname NUNEMAKER in Trenton? My grgrgrandmother was Sarah Elizabeth Nunemaker aka "Lizzie Nunemaker" b. 1847 in Yardley Pa m. Jonas K. Pippen and lived on Kossuth St. in Trenton, NJ. Her parents moved to Trenton in about the year 1850- Henry Nunemaker and Jane (Caffey) Nunemaker. Jane must have died between 1850-1860 as Henry is alone with children on 1860 census...I lose track of him after that as there isnt an index for 1870..I believe he also had sons Elias and Garret who served in the 4th NJ REGT during the Civil war. Looking for any info on this family at all. Thanks- Cheryl
Hi everyone, I just read this on www.ancestry.com and thought I'd pass it on. I had no idea they were about to do this... Note that I'm not affiliated with the website, nor am I even a subscriber, but I thought if they are able to pull this off it will be wonderful. However, I know that there are many, many people transcribing census records manually right now and I hate to see their efforts go to waste, EXCEPT that their results will be available for free, whereas ancestry.com's will be $59.95/yr to access... From: http://www.ancestry.com/home/celebrate/census.htm About Images Online Images Online⢠will provide Ancestry.com members with access to more online genealogical information than ever before. Ancestry.com is dedicated to saving its members time and money by allowing them to view and print documents that have traditionally been stored on microfilm or are only available in limited numbers of archives and libraries throughout the nation. Going beyond the detail of indexes and information summaries, the online images provide extensive detail only available through original records. About Census Records Ancestry.com is preparing to post electronic images of every record from the U.S. Federal Census between the years 1790 and 1920. The census records, which Ancestry.com recently obtained from the National Archives, contain more than 450 million names. Launched as part of the new Ancestry.com Images Online service, once digitized the original census records will be viewable and printable online with an Ancestry.com Census Subscription. The first images will be posted soon and subsequent postings will bring hundreds of millions of images to the site throughout the year. Through Images Online, census records will more faithfully reproduce original documents than mere indexes or bi-tonal, black and white images available with competitive offerings. The records will be easier to read as they will be viewed in full 256 shades of gray. Census schedules represent the most important and sought-after group of genealogical records in the United States. The information supplied with each individual in the census allows researchers to determine family structure, ages, residence, occupation, and much more. Holly Knott in Bucks Co., Pa
We had our annual Kitchin Family Reunion yesterday in Ringoes and had a great time despite the clouds. One of my uncles produced an old photo which had belonged to my grandmother, Viola Kitchin Moore. It showed a large crowd of folks dressed in their Sunday best. Gents with long whiskers, ladies in big hats, small boys with straw hats..... and at the bottom of the picture was a caption "1822 - Van Dolah Reunion - 1902". Someone familiar with the area suggested that the Van Dolah name was a reference to a school. The clothing on the people in the picture looks to be from the 1910-1920 period and I thought perhaps it was a reunion of folks might have all attended the school during the period of 1822 until 1902. Anyone familiar with the name? I can scan in the picture when I receive it from my uncle. Sharon Moore Colquhoun Belle Mead NJ http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb/~hscc/
I also would like to find someone who could lookup some obituaries for me in Trenton. Is there anyone on the list who is willing to do this for a fee? Anyone actively doing research in the area with a little time on their hands :>) Sharleen Charles scharles@mindspring.com
Sharleen, I do lookups for obituaries and other NJ vital records. The cost for a 5 day obituary search is $12.50. You'll find a great deal of information about records and costs on my web page @ <A HREF="http://members.aol.com/NJrecords/njlookups.html">NJ LOOKUPS</A> Let me know if I can help or if you have any questions Thanks Geoffrey Cooper
Yes I would be interested about that board, I could family members too!
I'm compiling an abstract listing of obituaries of Donauschwaben (German-Hungarians) from the Trenton/Mercer County area, specifically those from the Batschka town of Palanka. I'm about ready to finish this 4 year project. Please contact me if you have ancestors of this ethnic background from Mercer County and would like to share obituary info, Thanx, Dennis Bauer at <donauschwaben@mail.com>. ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! We had our annual Kitchin Family Reunion this afternoon in Ringoes and one subject we discussed was the honor roll board at the end of New Hillcrest Avenue on Pennington Road. Does anyone happen to know when it was constructed and when it was dismantled? Anyone happen to have a photo of it? My dad and two uncles were listed on it and one of the uncles would love to see a photo. Sharon Moore Colquhoun Belle Mead NJ
Hi List, Is there anyone willing, on their next trip to the library, check out the Trenton city directory for Violet Cohee 1921 to when ever she no longer appears. I am trying to narrow down when she died to locate an obituary and death record...Could be up to the 1940s, as her sisters obit in New Orleans 1945 mentions Violet as living in Trenton. Not able to travel and the New Orleans library has little or none on New Jersey after 1800. Violet lived at 1029 Brunswick Ave in the 1920 city directory and 1920 census, as widow of Ernest Cohee, with son Russell age 19, and daughter Ruth age 9. Willing to pay for any research. Thanks, Sally
