Janet, Have you checked findagrave.com I have just typed in the name Dennish--and New Jersey. I left the county part open. I got nine hits for the WHOLE state, including possibly your Joseph and Elizabeth (buried in St Francis Cemetery, Trenton). There is information giving the names of seven children which you could compare against the 1880 census. ALL of the Dennish burials are in Mercer County. This might provide a lot of clues. If you think this is your Joseph, you could get a death certificate from the NJ state archives which might provide more information. Do you have a suggestion on Mercer County researching? Sunny day-enjoy! There was one marriage of a Joseph DENNES and an Ann Clark on 31 Oct 1812, however it seems likely that was merely a variant spelling of Dennis. I suggest that you need to search in MERCER County. While that area was at one time part of Hunterdon County, the borders changed from time to time until Hopewell finally ended up permanently in Mercer County in 1838. Family name=DENNISH. Family of 9 was living-and farming- in Hopewell per the 1880 census. Have not been able to discover any additional information regarding marriage of the parents Joseph and Elizabeth Dennish. Any help greatly appreciated. Hello Kay!!! I am so thrilled with what YOU found. I may never get to bed tonight! I have always been just on the fringe of the Dennish family-and intrigued by the fact that they lived so close to me. Off I go searching and, finally, finding--thanks to you.
