Today I am focused on a *Cornelius Myers* b. @ 1745 who is about 85 years old in the 1830 Hunterdon Co. Census. Probably the same person who is listed in New Jersey Pensioners 1835 as being placed on the pension roll in 1833. There is another Cornelius Myers in NJ b. 1790 (don't know if it is Hunterdon Co.) listed in index of War of 1812 enlistees. Yet another Cornelius Myers is listed in the 1880 Hunterdon Co. census as age 74 (b. abt. 1806). I hope someone can sort these out for me. I am particularly interested in the first one b. 1745 to see if he has any connection to my *Peter Myer* b. about 1750 who grew up and married Anna Peters in Hunterdon Co. Peter and Anna Myer moved to Allegany Co. MD in 1790. Since at least one of the Cornelius Myers was in Amwell Twp. were Peter Myer lived, I feel that it is possible there is a family connction. Maybe there is a Cornelius Myers expert in our forum. Hope so. Thanks.
The only Cornelius Myers I can help with is the one born in 1806. According to his death certificate, he died on the 5th of April, 1891 at the age of 85 years, 0 months, 17 days, which computes to a birth date of 19 Mar 1806. Birthplace was listed as Warren County, NJ and occupation was cooper. The DC gives his parents as Elijah Myers and Sarah Dilley. If you decide to look for Elijah and Sarah, you will need to search in Sussex County because Warren wasn't created until 1825. This Cornelius was married to Charity Williamson, the daughter of Peter Williamson and Jane Britton. She died 3 Oct 1891 and both of their DC's list them as buried in Locktown. I have not been able to locate their gravestones in either of the two cemeteries there. Through the years, Cornelius and Charity seemed to have bounced between Kingwood and Delaware Twps. and both have either Sergeantsville or Delaware Twp. listed as their residence on their DC's. Cornelius and Charity were married 8 Aug 1835, in Hunterdon County. I only have two children listed. 1. Sarah Jane Myers, b. about 1836 2. Ephraim R. Myers, b. Dec 1837 Hope this helps a bit.
