I saw the article today on NJ.com about the saving of the Christopher Vought house in Clinton Twp., which is a wonderful thing. But once again, credit for collecting the boats for crossing the Delaware was given to Thomas Jones of Clinton rather than to our own Capt. David Johnes of Amwell (Delaware). Can't let that go by without saying something: http://goodspeedhistories.com/hunterdon-county/thomas-jones-v-david-johnes/ and while I was at it, I published the article by J. M. Hoppock on Capt. Johnes and his exploits and his house in Delaware Twp. http://goodspeedhistories.com/historians-revisisted/home-of-capt-david-jones/ Just a little patriotic fervor before February ends. Hello Marfy, Thanks for pointing us to the David Jones/Johnes article. At first I wondered if this was *the* David Jones of Hunterdon for whom I've been searching, but apparently not. :-( Does anyone know of another David Jones in Hunterdon in that era? The one I'm searching for was born before 1744 and died after 1810 in Ontario, Canada. He was married to a Christiana/Christina. They had 4 known daughters:.... 1. Catherine, married Conrad Hartrum on 10 Jun 1784 in Zion Lutheran church, New Germantown (Oldwick), name recorded as "Jons." 2. Dorothy, b: 16 Apr 1768 in New Jersey. 3. Mary, b: 1 Mar 1770 in New Jersey. 4. Margaret Mary, b: 22 Feb 1771 in New Jersey. This family moved to Upper Canada around 1790. Thanks for any help with this. Cheers! -- Dave -- David Naylor, Halton Hills, Ontario, Canada. HARTRUM/HOTRUM One-Name-Study See the HARTRUM/HOTRUM Family Tree at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~hotrum/ ---
