Dear Julie B in nc, Hi again!! You are amazing! This is wonderful information and really helps me decipher those column headings. I see that my father earned $600.00 in the entire year of 1939. Can we even imagine how tough it was to live through the Depression? We met before via email when you offered so much help with my Dennish side of the family. Once again, thank you for your generous contribution. Kindest regards, Janet McGlauflin PS-how is McGlauflin for an unusual spelling?I have not done any research on that one--yet! re the $900 salary in 1939. That would have been a very decent amount of money in those days. Money has become so devalued over the years that it is hard to understand what a dollar would have bought. In 1952 my first teacher's salary for the year was $2600; and I could live on it!
