I just wanted to add that in the 1920's and 1930's my grandmother, Bertha Stull Foster, use to take my mother, Margaret Foster Bowdren, from Stockton to Frenchtown by train. I thought it was because maybe she didn't drive, but now I see it could also have been the road conditions. Thanks for the info, Kathy.
