First - many thanks to Cinda for posting these census abstracts! I did want to let you all know that the Genealogical Society of New Jersey has a collection of 1850 census abstracts for most of the US for Jersey born residents of other states. The collection isn't processed yet and I'm not sure how accessible it really is. I think that it is still in it's original format - that is - by state and county of residence, with no name index. If you have family you know moved from NJ to a specific county - you might contact GSNJ and see if the relevant listings can be copied for you. Use the following address: GSNJ, Corresponding Secretary, PO Box 1291, New Brunswick NJ 08903. (Getting this collection organized (and indexed?) to be more accessible is a possible volunteer project for GSNJ volunteers. If you are interested in helping GSNJ with projects like these, more information is available on our website: www.gsnj.org) Regards, Joan Joan M.
