Wow, do I need help! I am trying to find some information for a family member about whom I'm writing an article. James Herbert Spencer was in the Civil War (20th Massachusetts) and then went into the regular Army and fought the Plains/Indian Wars. He died in 1921 in San Gabriel, California. I found him in Ft. Fetterman, WY in the 1880 census but I don't own a later census. Any way we can find out where he was later and if his daughter, Edith was still living? He had a son, Herbert Rothwell Spencer, who was killed in Manila in the early 1900s. I can't seem to pin down what happened to Edith. I believe she was born in Wyoming in 1882. Thanks to anyone who can HELP. Sharon Paul <rjainwi@charter.net> wrote: Linda, Hello. I belong to Ancestry.Com. I have been able to trace your grandfather Walter to the 1910 census along with Charles and the other names are hard to read, but I think Vernon, Arthur and Kenneth. I find them (Walter age 3) on the Clear Creek, Jasper Iowa census in 1900, your grandmother's name was Laura and she was born in Iowa. I find Jonas at age 7 in the 1880 census in Hunterdon New Jersey and his parents are Simon or (Simeon) age 35 and Elizabeth age27. I find Simon age 15 in 1860 father Peter and mother Elizabeth. Simon had a sister, Permillia who was 10. Maybe you have all of this information I am not sure.
