From the NJ Genealogical Society: NEW LIGHT ON THE ORIGIN OF COLONEL JOSEPH BEAVERS Contributed by Oliver D. Drake The extract below taken from the docket (1802... 1808) of Robert Beavers, Esq., a Justice of the Peace, provides the long sought clue to the origin of the Colonel Joseph Beavers, Revolutionary Soldier, and his brother Robert (the justice in whose book the entry appears). After finding this record in the original docket on file in the Sussex County Court House at Newton, NJ, the present contributor forwarded a copy to Harold A. Sonn, genealogist of the Beavers Family association. Reference to the discovery will be noted in a recent issue of the "Beaver Log" published by the family. There are many different theories about the ancestry of Col. Beavers, none of which is the final word on the subject. Here is a site that has a lot of information on Col Beavers Some of the information about the colonel was provided by myself to the owner of the site. I do not trust the work of Harold Sonn as far as the colonel's past or his brief synopsis of the Col's service during the war (which I find imaginative), but find Sonn's work of the descendants of colonel Beavers very reliable.
