    1. Lookups Please! Jan and others

    3. Due to an illness and death in the family, I have missed much of what has been going on on this list. If Jan and any others who volunteered to do lookups are still taking requests, would you please look up the names CALVIN (COLVIN), DILLEY, WARFORD and GRIGGS. Mary GRIGGS, wife of Jonathan Dilley CALVIN is one of my brick walls! I have been unable to find out who her parents were. According to her tombstone, she was born 11 Jan 1814. I don't know whether she was born in NJ or not, but she was in Sussex Co. by at least 1834. Another problem is Luther CALVIN (c. 1705 to c. 1780). Marilyn Solari and Homer Calvin speculate that Luther's wife was Elizabeth WARFORD (b. abt. 1721), daughter of John WARFORD and Elizabeth STOUT, who was named as Elizabeth COLVIN in the will of her father John WARFORD. Their argument appears to have been "What other CALVIN was there in the area who could have been her husband?" As far as I know, Luther had two brothers, Stephen and John, in the area who could have been married to Elizabeth, and some researchers have stated that she was John's wife, apparently based on the same evidence as Marilyn Solari and Homer Calvin had for speculating that she was Luther's wife. The real problem seems to be that many researchers have used their "speculations" as proof! Thank you! Carol
