Col BEAVERS was a friend of General William MAXWELL (aka "scotch-willie") -see my other post with the link here: http://www3.telus.net/cliffordweb/content/generation3.html - this contains letters between MAXWELL and governor LIVINGSTON on the character of col BEAVERS. Both BEAVERS and MAXWELL were members of the Greenwich Presbyterian Church and both are buried there. Breakness@aol.com wrote: In a message dated 2/21/2005 8:07:15 A.M. He also appeared to believe that Col. Joseph descended from a British 'clan', not Scots-Irish. I wonder if these Beaver people were Presbyterians? If so I also wonder about the anti Scot feeling between Scots and Britts? You know, Ulster, Cromwell and all. Laurence Lance whose NJ people married into the Beaver famalies. ==== NJHUNTER Mailing List ==== This mail list is archived at: http://newsarch.rootsweb.com/th/index/NJHUNTER ============================== Search Family and Local Histories for stories about your family and the areas they lived. The Beavers very well could have been Beviers, decendants of the Huguenot of New Platz, New York. They came early, married with Deyo, DuBois, LeFever, and those families. They may have changed the spelling of the last name to Beaver. They, also married in with the old Dutch families. Just a thought.
