Was in NJ for a memorial service at the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in Grandin. After the service, I wandered for a short time in the north cemetery. Recalling the recent activity re: BELLIS, I took 3 digital photos of the following headstones, hoping that it may help someone. (note: there are 3 seperate cemeteries associated/surrounding this church) Edward H. BELLIS 1853-1910 Hannah E. ALLER wife of Edward H. BELLIS 1852-1937 John BELLIS (no dates) Maria RITTENHOUSE wife of John BELLIS (no dates) All are flat plaques land into the ground. I do recall also seeing the BELLIS name in the south cemetery on an earlier trip. Sorry time was too short to wander through those plots again. Wendy

I do not know anything of Edward H. Bellis, but I do know that Hannah Eliza (Aller) Bellis was the daughter of the Rev. Nathan Aller and his first wife, Hannah Owen, dau of Thomas Owen. Most of the information on the children and wives of Nathan Aller came from his son Henry Aller's biography in Portrait and Biographical Record of Hunterdon and Warren Counties, New Jersey. The death of Hannah Aller Bellis was printed in the Hunterdon Co Democrat as "Mrs. H. E. Bellis, died Monday July 5, 1937 at her home in Philadelphia. She leaves a brother, Henry Aller, two nephews, L. N. Aller and Clarence Aller, and a niece, Mrs. H. P. Laros of Modesto, California." Hannah's mother died on April 11, 1852 after giving birth to Hannah who was named for her mother. She and Edward H. (or H. E.) Bellis had no children or none who survived to maturity. Wendy: In "Marriage Records of Hunterdon County, New Jersey, 1795-1875" by Hiram E. Deats on page 28, John Bellis married Maria Rittenhouse on 26 Sep 1849, (3-398) by Stokes. This is in the time frame to be Edwards parents. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Rimwah1@aol.com> To: <NJHUNTER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, June 12, 2005 9:55 AM Subject: [NJHUNTER] BELLIS > Was in NJ for a memorial service at the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in > Grandin.
