Marfy, I sent an email to Gary MYERS a few days ago which I had meant to post to the list. It was in reply to his query with subject "Cornelius Myers, Duckworth, Hann, Mason". With this continued discussion on Albertus MYERS, thought I'd re-post it here: "Gary, I can't answer your immediate question, however FWIW, while reviewing the church book records of the Nordhofen Church in Germany, I've come across the surname HUHN (both with and without an umlaut) and I believe I noticed it written as HAHN but didn't jot that down so I'm not certain. This surname wasn't my focus so I didn't record anything except "HUHN" since it was unusual and I wanted to research it further when I got home. I only mention this because there were lots of entries in the Nordhofen records for MYERS/MIERS. Plus, I notice from an online database that there apparently were marriages between the daughter of Yost HOPPAUGH, who died in Amwell, NJ and was from Seelbach/Flammersfeld, Germany, which is not too far from Nordhofen, and Johann Peter HANN. The database also notes that other of Yost's children married into the ALLER, JUNG (mother was ANDRIESSEN), and FOX (FUCHS) families...all these names are present in the Nordhofen church books, as well as my BOLLESFELDs (ANDRIESSEN is listed mostly as ANDRE/ANDRES). Yost HOPPAUGH's wife's surname, SCHU, may also have been listed but that name has not been familiar to me in my research so I didn't notice it. Just thought I'd pass this on..." ADDED NOTE: last night I reviewed some digital images I downloaded off the LDS microfilm of the Nordhofen church book records. In 1690, someone from Seelbach (which presumably is the Seelbach located near Flammersfeld, not another Seelbach) named Christina (can't read surname) was listed as a sponsor at the baptism of Johann Christian BOLLESFELD, indicating some level of interaction between the residents of these two areas. Thus, the HANN who married Yost HOPPAUGHs daughter "may" have belonged to the HUHN/HAHN family listed in the Nordhofen church records...who then "may" be the HANN ancestors of Gary MYERS...in which case the MYERS/MIERS listed in the Nordhofen church books "may" also be Gary's MYERS ancestors. The most famous Albertus was the Catholic philosopher Albertus Magnus who lived in Germany in the 13th century. If you check Henry Z. Jones' Palatine Migration books, you will find a few of that name. The one we've been discussing lived from 1751 to 1839 in an area of Hunterdon that was settled by many Germans in the early to mid 18th century. To have someone show up with that name in the mid 20th century is kind of amazing. -----Original Message----- From: Bob Kitchen [mailto:dkitchen@kcnet.org] Sent: Saturday, June 04, 2005 5:50 PM To: NJHUNTER-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [NJHUNTER] Albertus Myers I've been watching the notes concerning Albertus Myers, and wondering.... When I entered Muhlenberg College (Allentown, Pa.) in 1958, there was an Albertus Myers (descendant?) who was a famous band director in Allentown. Not too many people have that first name.
