The book described by Jan below was compiled by Thomas Wilson and Dorothy Stratford, two long-time trustees of the Genealogical Society of NJ. it is available for $30 from BOOKS, NJ, the capital bookstore, dedicated to New Jersey local history and genealogy, and operated by the NJ State Archives and NJ Historical Commission, in partnership with the Genealogical Society of NJ. View their titles list at http://www.booksnj.com For Revolutionary War services and supply reimbursements in Essex County, there is a manuscript called "Account of Certificates Given by Daniel Marsh for Money Due From the United States in the Quartermaster & Forage Departments at Rahway, New Jersey." It is housed in the New Jersey State Archives, record group Department of Defense, Revolutionary War Numbered Manuscripts, Item #4459. There are similar documents for many other counties of New Jersey in the NJ State Archives. The information contained is brief and might be in chart format with date, consecutive nbr, to whom given, for what given, when due, and $ amount. For example: "Sept. 8, 1780, 15, Isaac Lawrence, 1 cord wood furnished the troops, Apr. 13, 1780, $90." The services range from "4 days carting with a team of 2 cattle", to "21 days horseshoeing", and more.
