Thanks Marfy. I think that Abraham was Samuel's brother -- that is from census data & their death records. Listed on Abraham's report of death are parents - Peter Davenport & Ann Cole. Listed on Samuel's report of death are parents - Peter Davenport & Annie Cole. There is also a Leonard Davenport who lived in the proximity of the other two (census records) who may be another brother but on his death record in the place for parent's names it says "Don't know." I would be interested in any info you have for Peter and Ann but from what you've said I don't think you have anything else. Carol. Would you share b/d dates for Abraham Davenport? All I have is 1816-aft.1895. Thanks for the confirmation of his parents. His wife Hannah Swallow is in my line. I have Samuel Housel m. July 8, 1827, HC. NJ. Elizabeth Swallow, dau of Nicholas Swallow and Mary Bower. But, I find only one Samuel Housel, b. 1821 in PA. Elizabeth was Elizabeth Housel in will of her father Nickolas,1856. Pos. Sam went by Henry, Theodore...? Pos. Samuel died..? Pos. spelling is incorrect...? Anyone have a Samuel Housel? Hi Janet, I'll gladly share whatever I have on Abraham. That's what this is all about. Without sharing we'd all be knocking our heads against brick walls. I have a copy of Abraham's death record. He died on 7 Jan 1898 in Quakertown which was also his residence at the time of death. His age is given as 76 which would make his dob 1822 or 1823. From the Hunterdon County Democrat he was married to Hannah Swallow on 14 Mar 1849. I have a copy of Hannah's will which was probated June 12, 1891. It is interesting that her son Albert is the executor and chief recipient of the estate. In the will she leaves $10 to her husband Abraham, a list of household items to Minnie (Albert's wife), and the remaining portion of the estate to Albert including "one note held against my husband Abraham Davenport". That's about all I have for Abraham & his family. As I said I am really interested in Samuel and just research the siblings for clues. Contact me off line with your snail mail address if you would like a copy of the will and Abraham's record of death. Hi List I keep a constant vigil of the NJ & County lists hoping I will be able to solve some of my families history and this recent thread which discussed some of the Davenport's particularly in Hunterdon cty. caught my attention. I'll try and weave a rough encapsulation to see if there are any other threads that might be able to woven into these families The name's Woolley and Davenport begin by showing up in CT and then Woolley' s show up in Long Island, NY for a period of time then on into New Jersey. The next physical connection is that both Davenports and Woolley's have interests in Barbados, not necessarily the same business/property, but in the same time period. Although I did not see any particular records, a discussion I had while in Barbados with a gentleman agreed with what I had understood in general. Now back to New Jersey/West Jersey (?) these two names come together down the stream of time One Ezechiel/Ezekiel b. 31 Aug 1763, shows up in the Zion Church of New Germantown/Oldwick baptismal record as an adult (27yrs) c1790. Dec 23, 1790 he is then married to Polly Philips/Philops, b1773, New Germantown/Oldwick. Incidentally, David Woolley a younger is Bap. on the same date, same location. The son of Ezechiel and Polly, Isaac Ogden Woolley mar. Sarah Davenport 15 Sept. 1832. They Had two children. Harriet Anne b. date unknown and Margaret b.4 July 1835, Perth Amboy, New Jersey. The early part of this narrative covers a time period c1650 - c1750. I am hoping that SKS will come to my aid with additional info and of course I'll be willing to share. These days I am becoming more dependent on others for assistance for which I am grateful. There are a few old-timers to the list who know of what I speak. I want to thank you all for this thread starting, at least it put some more fire in my eye to keep monitoring.
