    3. Hi Gale, Only one mention of the name, but kind of a different story, so am sending the happenings of the transaction. page 52: Records of the [John,Sr.] Williamson papers dated 1791 to 1793, show that the family owned two stallions they were putting out to stud and there is a long list of people in the Amwell area who brought their mares to Bold Figure for this service. Among them, William DANBURY....et al. who all paid an average of 1(pound) 10s. for the service. Also, John Garrison, Samuel Graff, and Benjamin Blackwell were among the men listed who brought their mares to Shakespear. The cost of tack and feed for the horses might seem relatively cheap by today's standards. A list of "Money Expended for Bold Figure" indicated that a "new Leather holster" cost 5s. 9d. and a "New Snaffle Bridle" [snaffle -- a simple usu. jointed bit for a bridle] cost 6s 6d... However, we have just seen that Peter Snook was paid 16s. 6d. for three days work mowing grass, the halter therefore, cost the equivalent of one days work by a farm laborer. A bridle for Shakespear was 10s. and hay and oats for one week ! for Bold Figure was 7s. 6d.
