Does anyone have any information on John A. Clements, a "leading citizen of Flemington and a publisher of the Hunterdon Newspapers, Inc." which published the Hunterdon Republican during the 1940s. There were no dates in the article that ran this quotation. I would assume that by now, Mr. Clements would be deceased. Thank you for any leads to him or his surviving family. Bill Hartman
Hi, Check out Google books for a book by Wm. Starr Myers "Prominent Families of New Jersey" By William Starr Myers and you can read all about him. He served in France in WWI was an editor in NY and NJ and he loved to restore old houses--book mentions no wife or children.: John A. Clements was born at Owensboro, Kentucky on Jan. 5, 1900. His parents are George Hanson Clements and Emma Kathryn Mills. Father b. KY and mother in Sligo, Ireland. Father an engineer. John A. Clements worked on the NY Daily Mirror and the NY Journal (1921-1934). He worked for Hearst Corporation. He bought the "Hunterdon Republican" in 1941. The bio mentions all the clubs and organizations he belonged to.
