Mrs. Oscar Dow died 13 JUNE 1888 . The article clearly states it as such. When you type in a name, it will come up as January of whatever year the event happened. You still must search the paper for the whole year. So when it shows in the index that Mrs. Oscar down died the 13th ins. that did not mean that she died in January. You must search the whole year until you find the article. As it is the article appeared in the June 26th edition of the paper and is worded thusly: Mrs. Oscar Dow, aged 27, whose husband occupies Hon. John G. Schenck’s upper farm, near Neshanic, died suddenly on Wednesday, 13th inst. Inst. is the abbreviation for instant which means that she died the thirteenth of the present month which was June.
