    3. Greetings to all on the NJHunter & NJ-Old-Newspaper lists and the persons who received Bcc copies. The beta test for the Hunterdon Republican Newspaper has been Put Up to the Internet. Initially I have had to go with a commercial hosting service since I could not get the free Web site from "RootsWeb" to work. Please go to the URL at: http://www.huntrepnews.com Add this to your Favorites! Come back monthly to check on the progress. At present, digital images of the microfilm of the newspaper are being obtained which I anticipate will be completed before the end of this year. My special thanks to the Hunterdon County Library for their more than gracious loaning of the microfilm. Since I live in Florida, there is no way I could have accumulated the images on my yearly 2-week jaunts to visit the kids and Gkids up North! The site is better viewed in MS Internet Explorer than in Mozilla Firefox. The latter changes the display somewhat, although both display all the information. My production software is Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 in case any of you want to create Web pages easily. Sorry about the complexity of finding the actual abstracts, but once you get used to the format, you should be able to breeze through the pages to find out where the actual "meat" will be found. You may email me with constructive ideas, especially about a Search Engine, I am working on the freebie from GOOGLE and if I can get it to work to my specifications, that may appear sometime later this year. I really like the Search Engine that Dennis Sutton uses on his Hunterdon Democrat Web site. It has one disadvantage in that it gives you advertisements! If you haven't used it yet, go to: http://www.njsuttonfamily.org/Newspaper/paperhistory.htm Enjoy these old newspapers as much as I have, to not only find out about your ancestors, but also to see how people lived and interacted a hundred or so years ago. Regards, Bill
