My greatgrandmother (whom I remember as she died when I was in high school) was a Naylor. Her father was Joseph Gardner Bowne Naylor, born March 7, 1837 in Pine Hill, Hunterdon County. In 1862 he married Elemline Van Syckle. They are both buried in Rosemont. Any relation to you other Naylors? Joseph Naylor's mother was Deborah Leigh, whose mother was a Rockefeller. They also connect to the Stouts, including the famous Penelope! Sharon Harry and Sharon Moore Colquhoun Yardville, NJ Our family website http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hscc/

My husband's relationship to the Naylor is through the Smiths, Margaret Naylor married Isaac Smith. Her mother was Deborah Leigh (sometimes Lee) married John M Naylor, John's father was Daniel Naylor (Nailor). But my findings are the same, Deborah Leigh's parents are Joseph Leigh and Margaret Rockefeller. And yes I tgrace them back to the Stouts also. Sounds like you and my husband are related. I will give you more if you need it but maybe if it is a lot of info, we should email privately instead of using space here. Hi Sharon- I have Van Syckle, Rockefeller, and Stout- to Penelope. I looked in my copy of the A History of the Van Sickle Family in the US of A and found what may be your Elemline. She is listed as the daughter of Peter Van Syckel and Mary Opdyke. Her name is spelled Emmeline and she is shown to have married Mr. Nailer, an interesting variation to "Naylor", if this is the same person. David Van Syckle, Peter's father, is the brother of my 4th great grandfather, Peter Van Syckel. David's father was Reinier Van Sickelen, who is on the DAR's Patriots' Index. There are 125 Naylors listed as having been buried in New Jersey on www.findagrave.com including many in Hunterdon Co. Look there for your ancestors. Sometimes you strike it lucky and find out whole family relationships. Good luck. Mary Jo C. Thanks, Maryann!. That would be my Emeline. I probably typed the name incorrectly. I have her father as Peter but no surname for her mother, Mary. Very interesting info! Thanks very much!
