    1. Re: [NJHUNTER] Shannock Meeting House
    2. In checking "Hunterdon County Place Names", by Phyllis B. D'Autrechey, the only thing I come up with is the name Shannock River, which she says is actually the Neshanic River. When you look up Neshanic River, it reads: "This is one of the principal streams of East Amwell Township. The First Neshanic rises west of Flemington and flows in a southerly direction where it is joined by the Second Neshanic which begins near Harmony School Road. The Third Neshanic has its beginning near Sand Brook. It then flows into the other branches near Copper Hill. The three there form the larger Neshanic River whichcrosses into Somerset County south of Clover Hill after being joined by the Back Brook. (RR 1:15; Snell: 351) So Shannock Meeting House might have been a church or meeting house somewhere along the Neshanic River or one of the three branches. But no guarantees.
