    1. Re: [NJHUNTER] John GARRISON, d. 1854 Hope Township, Warren Co.: Son of John...
    2. Found one connection between the GARRISON - READING surnames, by way of Duncan OLIPHANT, his will of Feb 1732, Proved August 1734. Mentions friend John READING, trustee. dated 1734. A John GARRISON was his brother - in - law to Mr. OLIPHANT. Probably is the Gov John READING before he was elected Govenour of New Jersey. His dates are 1686 - 1767. (father is ca 1656 - 1717). - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - It seems odd to me that the death record for the John GARRISON of this email (found deceased on the road by Peter BURGE) to the NJ HUNTERDON List, is not listed on familysearch.org for him. Unfortunately, a recent search by the NJ State Archives in response to the following posting yielded no death record. Any further information would still be greatly appreciated! One of my helpful correspondents, Marshall Lake, recently wrote to me: "I found the following in a newspaper local to Warren County, NJ. I'm afraid I don't know the name of the newspaper. If you can tie this John GARRISON into what you have I'd like to hear about it. '13 Feb 1854 John Garrison, of Hope township, aged 72 years, found dead in road near residence of Peter Burge, having died from cramps, to which he was subject.'" Dying @ age 72 in 1854, John was born about 1782. Therefore, he may be identical with the probable son of John & Mary (BARBER) GARRISON of Bethlehem Township, Hunterdon Co., NJ who resided in Warren Co. and appears at the end of my document... http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~streeter/GARRISON.TXT Any further information on the John GARRISON who d. in Hope Township in 1854 would be greatly appreciated. Of course, a death record or more extensive obituary would be ideal.
