Thanks! Once school is out in May I hope to go to New Jersey to do some genealogical research. I seem to recall reading somewhere that Hiram Deats estimated that perhaps only half of the marriages performed ever got recorded in county or state archives. The County Library also has eight microfilm reels, "Marriage licenses (bonds), 1711-1797" issued by the NJ State Archives. I have not looked at them lately, but as I recall they were organized by the names of the spouses. To organize records by the name of the officiant or minister would seem to be a very unhelpful method for researchers. We also have "Somerset County, New Jersey, Marriages, 1795-1878" by Meeker, "New Jersey Marriage Records, 1665-1800" by Nelson, "Marriage Records of Hunterdon County, 1795-1875" by Deats, and "Marriage Records of Hunterdon County, 1876-1900" by the Beacon/News.
