    3. I've got a couple orphans who should not be orphans, and wonder if someone can identify the parents of this couple: Adam Bellis born 27 Jan 1812 married Margaret Rockafellow (born 11 Aug 1821). They were married on 27 Jan 1841, at which time they were both living in Raritan Twp. They were both buried in Larison's Corner Cemetery. Another Q: Was this Adam Bellis the same as the one-time publisher of the Hunterdon Democrat? Thanks, Marfy *Marfy Goodspeed **marfyg@gmail.com** Goodspeed Histories http://goodspeedhistories.com/ *

    3. Marfy, The Adam Bellis you noted was the newspaper editor. He was listed in the 1860 Census (Ancestry) in Flemington as a publisher/printer. His wife is listed as a Mary A. at Margaret but he did have a daughter named Margaret. He is also listed in the 1870 Census in Flemington as an editor (this was of the Warren Co. newspaper). He died 21 Sep 1896 in Belvidere, Warren Co. The 1850 Census lists an Adam C. Bellows in Clinton, Hunterdon Co. The names and ages of his wife and children match those listed in the 1860 Census is the same individual. He was listed in 1850 as a harness maker. Also found a Adam W. Bellis in the 1850 Census in Raritan, Hunterdon Co. ca 1812. This Adam's wife is given as Margaret, b. ca 1822. He died 3 Dec 1876 in Raritan. Okay just found a marriage record for him which matches the date you have, his wife being Margaret Rockafellow. To add to confusion of Adam Bellis', there was another Adam S. Bellis, b. ca 1813 living in Franklin, Hunterdon Co. in the 1850 Census. He apparently died before 1860 Census as his wife Charity is listed with her children from 1860 on.
