    3. Hello Kay!!! I am so thrilled with what YOU found. I may never get to bed tonight! 3. There is no Jacob Swick or Elizabeth Poyer. Under the "Poyer" spelling, there are no entries. I checked all three possible places in the book (1986) and there are none by these names. Sorry. Did you see the post yesterday from Al Sinclair? You might check, online, and see if you find anything. If that is the old book (before additions were made) then it probably won't help you find them. -----Original Message----- From: njhunter-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:njhunter-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of cummins0745@sbcglobal.net Sent: Tuesday, February 21, 2012 3:36 PM To: NJHUNTER@rootsweb.com Subject: [NJHUNTER] Joseph Poyer b. 1762 m. 2. although Tunnel Avenue is in West Portal which is Hunterdon County, you may want to contact the Warren County Historical Society in Belvidere, New Jersey -- to note, there are various Vliet DAR societies, etc....the old historical Vliet farms (and old Vliet family graveyard on the one farm -- findagrave.com, as well as the various other graveyards in Bloomsbury with Vliets) are located in the Musconetcong Valley off Jugtown Mountain bordering West Portal/Bloomsbury... there is also a Vliet family history book and I'll send this along to one who has such, perhaps she can shed some light on your mystery... ----- Original Message ----- From: Rita Chesterton <rchesterton1@verizon.net> To: njhunter@rootsweb.com Sent: Tue, 21 Feb 2012 04:09:22 -0000 (UTC) Subject: Re: [NJHUNTER] Marriage record - VLIET Thank you, Susan... very nice of you to check so thoroughly. 2. Marshall is absolutely correct. For some additional online records try going to www.raub-and-more.com. Click on the link for Baptisms, Burials and more. Scroll down through the Baptisms and burials to Marriages. There is a listing for marriages performed in a Methodist Church in Easton, and an index to vol. 1 of Warren County marriages. Also some more records from various churches in the Warren county area. Date: Mon, 20 Feb 2012 23:09:22 -0500 From: Rita Chesterton <rchesterton1@verizon.net> Thank you, Susan... very nice of you to check so thoroughly. It's really odd that I cannot find a marriage record for my Gt-Gt-Grandparents. They are both mentioned in the Op Dyck Genealogy book...and I found property transactions as well. They lived on Tunnel Avenue at one time, and then owned/operated the Still Valley Inn out near Straw Church in the 1860's. -Rita On Feb 20, 2012, at 7:33 PM, Susan Pena wrote: > I looked at 3 different sections of the 1986 book and did not find these > names. 2. Janet, Have you checked findagrave.com I have just typed in the name Dennish--and New Jersey. I left the county part open. I got nine hits for the WHOLE state, including possibly your Joseph and Elizabeth (buried in St Francis Cemetery, Trenton). There is information giving the names of seven children which you could compare against the 1880 census. ALL of the Dennish burials are in Mercer County. This might provide a lot of clues. If you think this is your Joseph, you could get a death certificate from the NJ state archives which might provide more information. 2. Cathy, There are no Jungs listed, but there is two and a half pages of Youngs. Perhaps you can access the online edition that Al gave us the link for and go through those. If you don't find any of your Youngs there or have a question, then get back to me give me the names of who you are looking for, and then I will check the Additions and Corrections. The book contains the names of the bride and grooom, the date of the marriage and the officiating clergyman or JP---however it does not list churches. 3. Thank you for checking for me Kay. This marriage is not listed in the REVISED Deats book either. As far as your question about whether the original records in Hunterdon would reflect the birthplace of these people, I would have to say that you MIGHT get a clue from them, but only a very general one. I am looking at a copy of a page out of the register of marriages from 1853 - 1854 that contains the marrriage record of one of my collateral ancestors. By this time (which is the same period as you are looking ), the registers had become more uniform, and there was a blank for the place of RESIDENCE for the bride and groom, which was not necessarily their birth place.
