    3. Dear Julie B in nc, Hi again!! You are amazing! This is wonderful information and really helps me decipher those column headings. I see that my father earned $600.00 in the entire year of 1939. Can we even imagine how tough it was to live through the Depression? We met before via email when you offered so much help with my Dennish side of the family. Once again, thank you for your generous contribution. Kindest regards, Janet McGlauflin PS-how is McGlauflin for an unusual spelling?I have not done any research on that one--yet! 2. Mary Jo C. Martin
    3. Thanks for the follow up. Annie grew up largely in Lambertville. Her own father in Scotland put her mother Isabella and her on the ship to join Isabella's brother John Reid (my great-great grandfather) in Lambertville and the family has been there ever since. Annie's father promised to join them, but never did. John Reid went back and forth across the Atlantic five times and into Canada to try to find his brother-in-law. He never did. John invited his sister and niece to live with him, and John raised Annie as if she were one of his own. In fact, one of John's children had Annie listed as a sister in his obituary, which would confuse anyone who didn't know the back story. Annie and John Morrison never had kids of their own. Annie would have considered the cousins listed in her obituary as her 'sisters,' and all the Reid family cared for her greatly. My mom knew them all. If any of you know Lambertville people well, then you'll know my late great-aunt Kitty Holcombe, the town nurse. She was John Reid's granddaughter. So it's entirely possible that Annie and John Morrison are buried separately, especially since I've done more research into my notes going back to 1985 and discovered that theirs may not have been the happy marriage that I first thought. The rest of the family didn't like John Morrison. Annie would have been in charge of her husband's arrangements in 1941, but her cousins would have been in charge of Annie's arrangements in 1961. I'm only surprised they didn't bring her home to Lambertville to bury with the rest of the family. That's the biggest reason why I think perhaps John was buried in Ewing and she was put next to him. If the cousins had intended to bury them separately, they would have put her in John Reid's plot with her mother Isabella and some of the Reid children who died young. Thanks again to everyone who is weighing in on this. I truly appreciate your assistance, and promise to pay it forward. 3. Wow. I was looking for Annie's obit on GenealogyBank.com yesterday but couldn't find it. Thanks so much! (I have a lovely photo of her. She was my grandmother's cousin, and my grandmother used to say such nice things about her.) Perhaps John was initially going to be buried in Greenwood, but they changed their mind. Maybe the cost of plots was substantially different between the two cemeteries. It was a happy marriage, so there's no reason to believe that they were buried separately (I've had a few of those in my 29 years of doing this!). So John is probably in Ewing Cemetery. That should be easier to check out than Greenwood. Now, the next question is: Ewing Cemetery or First Presbyterian Church of Ewing Cemetery? It seems to me that it would be the former. If anyone is more familiar with these two cemeteries and their common nomenclature, can you confirm my assumption? I've changed both Annie and John Morrison to Ewing Cemetery from Greenwood on Find A Grave, pending confirmation. Thanks so much to Kay and Susan and Rita and Helen. I appreciate a little help from afar once in a while. If there's ever anything you want in Australia... I know, I know. lol Regards, Mary Jo C. 3. Hi MaryJo, I always like seeing you on here again.  As soon as I get a chance, I'll get Harry to take me over to Ewing and take a photo of their graves.  They're 28B, right along Carleton Avenue and buried next to each other.  Can't wait to see how far they are from my family!  I was just there last Saturday!   If you happen to be on Facebook, look for New Jersey Memories.  I started that FB page because rootsweb doesn't permit photos and we wanted to share photos with one another.  We're the original rootsweb NJMemories group and there are a bunch of us on Facebook.   I'll try to get back to you with a photo ASAP.  At least we know where they are now!   Sharon   Harry and Sharon Moore Colquhoun Yardville, NJ Our family website http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hscc/ From: Mary Jo C. A quick findagrave search showed John Morrison buried in Greenwood Cemetery with a whole slew of other Morrisons. No Morrisons are buried at Ewing Cemetery, at least none that have been listed with findagrave at the moment. It is listed as being at 100 Scotch Rd., Ewing, NJ, 609-882-0273. That may be where Google map made their mistake. Kay -----Original Message----- From: Mary Jo C. 3. I agree. Two cemeteries all kinds of people buried there. There is an office for both. I would contact both. I noticed from the Trenton Times articles first that there were several days between them and second that he died in New York. The body would have to be brought to NJ. That's not far, but it is a complication. That might explain the mix-up. I don't know what you can find out about that. My husband's grandfather died in Denver, Colorado when my husband's father was three. The body was brought back to Boston, Massachusetts for burial. My husband's father was brought back. Haven't a clue about his mother since her signature on the death certificate. Grandfather is buried, alone, in Boston…don't know what happened to the grandmother. And anyone who might know is gone. But that was surely a complication. I've been looking for that grandmother for 20 years. My point being (why do we always have to tell our own stories??!!) there might be something more to the story since the body had to be brought to NJ from NY. 3. Don't assume anything.  The two cemeteries are across the street from each other.  I have relatives in each and the burials don't have anything to do with religious affiliations.  Some in the Presbyterian cemetery are even Roman Catholic.  That particular Presby church is now meeting across the street from their original beautiful structure as their building has been condemned (another long story!) but you should be able to reach a cemetery office somehow. 3. Ivins & Taylor is still a functioning funeral home. You might want to contact them. By law they are supposed to keep those records. They may be able to help. Perhaps he was to be buried in The Greenwood Cemetery and then something happened to change. Ivins & Taylor Inc 1740 Greenwood Ave Trenton, NJ 08609 Susan On Apr 11, 2012, at 8:38 AM, Mary Jo C. 1. [NJHUNTER] John Morrison
    2. Mary Jo, In looking again, I see that you were the one who posted the info on John Morrison and his wife, Annie to the find-a-grave site. So now you are wondering which is correct? No wonder. I could if you wish, call the cemeteries and try to find out for you. It would be far easier for me since I only live fifty miles away, than for you. Kay

    3. Those are two different cemeteries. The Greenwood Cemetery is in Trenton (not far from the train station). Ewing Cemetery is generally thought of as the affiliated with the First Presbyterian Church on Scotch Road in Ewing which is a township north of Trenton. Two very different cemeteries. 2. A quick findagrave search showed John Morrison buried in Greenwood Cemetery with a whole slew of other Morrisons. No Morrisons are buried at Ewing Cemetery, at least none that have been listed with findagrave at the moment. By the way there is a third Cemetery--the First Presbyterian Church of Ewing Cemetery (AKA Ewing Church Cemetery) that is across the street from the Ewing Cemetery. It is listed as being at 100 Scotch Rd., Ewing, NJ, 609-882-0273. That may be where Google map made their mistake. Kay -----Original Message----- From: Mary Jo C.
