    2. I know there were Beavers in Hunterdon Co. Don't have much on them. I am researching the Swick family of New Germantown, Hunterdon, NJ. My grandfather's brother, Clarence Swick had a daughter, Ann Burrell Swick that married Cecil Beavers, b. 1906 New Germantown, ( now Oldwick) d. Oct. 1992 Whitehouse Station, Hunterdon, NJ. They were married 24 Dec. 1931 at home. They had 2 children - Shirley Beavers Reed, b. 1935 - still living in Oldwick, Hunterdon, NJ. Cecil Beavers b. 1945 I believe they all belonged to the Zion Lutheran Church in Oldwick. Anything on the Beavers you would like to share would be appreciated. Gloria in Arizona

    3. One more thing.... I have been following your thread from N.J. to Va. While I have not spoken up previously, Daniel Kitchen (my ggg grandfather) apparently followed a similar route, going from N.J. to Virginia (a large territory at the time), and then to Ohio, where he was given land, due to his service in the Rev. War. 2. The Beavers in NJ did marry Kennedys (on of my lines in Warren County and my maiden name) and they were definitely presbyterians. I tend to think that the Beavers were Scots. Judy Arthur

I wonder if these Beaver people were Presbyterians? If so I also wonder about the anti Scot feeling between Scots and Britts? You know, Ulster, Cromwell and all. 3. Greetings, Judy, Duke, Marty ~ Robert and Sarah (Hart) Akers 'paused' in Loudon County, Virginia, on their way to present Bedford County, Pennsylvania, before mid-September 1761. Robert was on a list of titheables there in 1762 until 1782. He and their daughter Ruth were witnesses to a wedding in April 1765 in Loudon County. Ephraim Hart (a cousin of Sarah's) appears to have removed to Loudon County, also, before moving westward to Washington County, Pennsylvania, and Brooke County, (now) West Virginia. Apparently Muirheads (Muirheids?) also were in Loudon County--William, John, and Charles-- at least in 1772, for Ephraim was a petitioner against them for a debt. {Loudon County (Leesburg), Virginia, Order Book, August 1770-April 1773: p.311, May 26, 1772} Judy: according to "A History of Colonel Joseph Beavers of Hunterdon County, New Jersey: His Family, Descendants, and Connections" by Harold A. Sonn, 1948; p.6 -- "The compiler received many letters from southern states from Beavers and persons connected with that family but all of them, without exception, connect either with the Pennsylvania Beavers--Biebers, or southern families descendants of same, or of the Matthew or Isaak Beaver who landed in Virginia in the early seventeenth century. None of them have any New Jersey connections with the exception of the descendants of Alexander White, 1752-1814, and his wife, Mary Beavers, 1748-50 (?)--1825, daughter of Col. Joseph Beavers, a report of which will be found in a separate chapter in this history." Sonn goes on to say that there is no proof of any connection between Col. Joseph Beavers and a John, William and Thomas Beavers. He also appeared to believe that Col. Joseph descended from a British 'clan', not Scots-Irish. Apparently The "German" Beavers were originally Beiber: "Bever" is another spelling cited. Don't know if any of this helps, but there it is. Af pages from Sonn's book are desired, give a yelp. 1. NJ to Loudoun Virginia...
    2. Alice
    3. Marty Hiatt and others I have been trying to make a connection from the New Jersey area RIGHTMIRE family...Somerset, Hunterdon, Morris, Middlesex Counties to the small band of RIGHTMIRE'S in the Loudoun Virginia area in the late 1700's for some time....Other distinctive names that I see on the Loudoun list that I have recognized as names in New Jersey are BIRD, GULICK and BEAVERS ...these come to mind...probably others. I still do not know if Rightmire is Palantine German or Dutch. I do know that Rightmire's in New Jersey married into Dutch families such as Van Pelt. Vorhees, Speder and probably otherspretty regularly.

    2. I have copies of the pages in Chambers' book, but the information seems out of sync. Some believe that the Beavers are german, some scotch irish. I know that a William Beavers who seems to be from Sussex County died in Loudoun County in 1823. He us supposed to have served in the French and Indian War in New Jersey and may be a brother to Joseph Beavers in Hunterdon County. Judy Arthur
