Hi Bob, list; Thanks for the note. Yes I've been there. It is a treasure trove of information and a beautiful resting place for those folks. Resting there under a huge tree are the first Runyan's to the area - George and Hannah (Davis) Runyan, my direct ancestors - as well as many Kitchen's if memory serves. During my first visit there, in 2000, several descendants of John Funston were visiting. Dr. Funston as many on the list may know, also emigrated from central NJ to Jerseytown. I was in awe of these folks, especially the historias/genealogists in the group who knew of George & Hannah Runyan. I had just started poking around at that point, and afterwards began in earnest. The Swishers buried there, the Loudoun Co., VA connection, are not my direct ancestors. fsr -----Original Message----- From: Bob Kitchen [mailto:dkitchen@kcnet.org] Sent: Tuesday, February 22, 2005 10:24 PM To: NJHUNTER-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [NJHUNTER] Swisher -- NJ to Loudoun, VA Fuller, Have you ever been to Jerseytown? Hi Gary, This is correct - Anna's date is 1677 of course......also to clarify as it may still be confusing to some - your "And William..." doesn't mean that William is also a child of Dr. Roger Parke - you were simply providing his birthdate & marriage date to Sarah Jewell. Thanks to both Susan and Mr Smith for the responses to my question about William Parke, grandson of Dr. Roger. I'm a descendent of Zebulon Parke, son of William. I'm wondering if anyone has followed this line down to the descendents of Zebulon and his wife Jane Burrows? Zebulon and Jane had another William Parke who married a woman named Sarah. I'm trying to find out what Sarah's last name was. For clarification: Dr. Roger Parke-Ann Pattison Roger Parke Jr-? William Parke-Sarah Jewell Zebulon Parke-Jane Burrows William Parke-Sarah ? Sarah Parke-James Ewing Austin Ewing-Susan Smith Mabel Ewing-Alonzo "Lonnie" Malcolm The last two are my grandparents. If anyone has a last name for Sarah I'd appreciate the help. Dr. Roger Parke b. abt. 1648 & wife Ann Pattison had 3 known children only - John Parke, Roger Parke Jr. & daughter Anne. These children (I'm away from home at the moment and away from my records) are all born in the 1670s/80s time frame. By 1711 Ann Pattison was probably well past child rearing age. I believe, if memory serves me that William Parke who married Sarah Jewell was the daughter of Roger Jr. & wife unknown. I am the lineage leader of the Dr. Roger Parke line for the Parke Society and can send you the information on this line once I am home from my mother's funeral this week. I am actually coincidentally in Hunterdon Co., NJ at the moment although I live in NC now. I grew up here and lived near Hopewell and know it well. I've done research here in the area and at the NJ Archives and also have the records of the Parke Society which is comprised of years of documented research which I'm happy to share with anyone interested. Hello, Susan, Good to hear your 'voice'. As you replied (and according to my data) Roger PARKE was b. Bef. 25 Jun 1648, and the children were John b. 1676, Anna b. 12677 and Roger, jr., b. 1684. And William b. 1711 m., in 1737, Sarah JEWELL b. 20 May 1720. I show ten children for them. Correct me when you get home again. To Mary: ----- Original Message ----- Does the Hunterdon County Historical society or other entity provide research for those of us out of state? The Killgore's I am looking for moved there in 1850's - I am looking for anything on Robert, editor for many years of the Hunterdon Democrat, and any of his family members. Thank you, Mary Killgore Tyrrell Response: You may contact the: Hunterdon County Historical Society 114 Main Street Flemington, NJ 08822 Send your request to them and please be specific. I believe they will do some limited research and will charge for the service - at least for the copies of material. But ask them first what they will charge. Regards, Bill
