Mr. Bill, This is a fishing expedition on my part, and I was just thinking that it may be worth a trip for me one day in the near future. I have not done much research lately... So as I would probably toss the kitchen sink at the society, I could not burden them with my list. I learned a while ago that if I do not have specific things to do when doing genealogy research, then I get absolutely nothing accomplished. A few more questions, to your knowledge... Is this index part of their card catalog system? Does the index contain both places and individuals? Thanks for the assistance. - John William Hartman <mrbill1033@comcast.net> wrote: Hi John, Yes, the Hunterdon County Historical Society does have an extensive picture gallery which I believe, if not totally, can be searched. There had been a lot of discussions relative to the Loyalists fro New Jersey. References were made to the New Jersey Volunteers. Re your e-mail to me of Friday Nov 5 2004 Do not remember if I replied to your e-mail or not. I have a lot of Dils,Diltz, Dolts info some of which disagrees in part with what you had. Have you uncovered anything more. Re Sarah Coryell I have her as being born5 Jolt 1744, marrying George Dilts (Dils ca 1798 and dying 24 jan 1862 And I have no reference to a maiden name of Crell, only Coryell? I have her parents as Cornelius and Sarah (Sallie) Shaw Cornelius b 1732, Sarah 1731 They supposedly had 7 boys and 5 girls. The children that I have are Sarah Ann b ca 1800 (mAndrew Wolf), Cornelius b 10 Mar 1799 (mSarah Jakes) He may have been a stepchild Could he have been a Prell not a Dils?, William Freeman b 1808 (m Sarah Miller), Rebecca b 9 Apr 1817. She was not mentioned in 1820 census. George and Sarah moved to Madison Twp Perry Co OH in 1810. The surname was spelled Dils in BLM land records for OH I have as siblings of Sarah Coryell: George, Mary, Jacob,Tunis, John, Eleanor C,ornelius and Joseph. Do you have any confirming info that George was a son of a William Dils and a Nancy Warson? Or any other info such as the other children of George and Sarah
This is to apologize for a e-mail sent last Wednesday to this and other lists sent by my niece but written by me and I never intended it to be sent. Once written, my anger was released and I thought better. However, my niece can go from Lady to the word use for female dog in 4.2 seconds. I did not realize she had sent the message until the next morning. That being say, some good things came form the e-mail. 1. After a discussion with AOL, I now get it for $7.00 less. 2. Many e mails were sent in agreement. 3. The lady who ripped me off has now listed my research as hers on her web site, with the a Mulatto slave as the great grandfather of her husband. She said she did the research herself. 4. She sent to me updated information about her family with birthdays and maiden names of living people. Smart enough to ripped me off, dumb enough to send that information to a total stranger. On the downside after doing genealogical research for thirty-three years and having two articles published in The American Genealogist, I will now quit genealogy. I will leave it to the new breed of Internet Genealogists that have no sense of right or wrong. So no need to unsubscribe me for an apology, I will do that soon myself. Thank You Tonto Bernstein

Hunterdon County "land records" consist of deeds and mortgages on file at the County Clerk's office in Flemington. Only the most recent deeds have been digitized. To consult the indexes of deeds and mortgages you have to visit the Hall of Records on Main Street, Flemington. Other land records include Special Deeds, Partitions, Liens, etc, all of which have to be searched on site. The staff cannot search for you. Earlier conveyances (up to about 1795) are on record at the NJ State Archives in Trenton, and they also have to be searched on site. Some old NJ deeds can be found in the New Jersey Abstracts, but nothing for Hunterdon.
