    2. Dave, Just a couple of additons and corrections. One thing that may interest you is that there was a question as to whether Andrew Sherman had two wives or three wives---- I had been given information that he had married sisters, namely Elizabeth Jardine and Mary Jardine. Actually they are one and the same. The marriage license for the state (obtained from the archives in Trenton), gives the bride's name as Elizabeth Ann JARDINE. The records of the Kingwood M.E. Church (same day, same groom)gives the bride's name as Mary JARDINE. Her children's birth certificates (the two that I have in my possession) both give her name as Mary A. or Mary Ann. Her death certificate and her tombstone both say Mary A. Their daughter was actually named Estella, though she was known as Stella, and her dob was 21 July 1892 according to her birth certificate which I am reading from right now. She died in 1960 in Trenton and is buried in Ewing Cemetery, Ewing Township, Mercer Co, NJ. Wallace's birthdate is correct . He died in 1977 and is buried in Cherryville Baptist Cemetery. Allan was married to Bertha HIGGINS. Wallace was married to Laura Ruth CASE, and Estella was married to one Franklin C. TAYLOR. Kay

    1. Re: [NJHUNTER] Fw: Lester Sherman
    2. Dear Marfy, Yes, I do know some things about the family of Rachel Ann Roberts, but I sure wish I knew a lot more. Rachel was the daughter of William Roberts and Effie (Effy) Housel. They were married 23 Nov. 1822 by the Rev. Bartolette. Rachel was born 26 June 1830 ( birth date extrapolated from her age at death as given on her tombstone), in New Jersey, almost certainly in Hunterdon County and most probably in Alexandria Township, and died 6 Sept 1887 in Delaware Township. She and Andrew are buried in Rosemont Cemetery right in back of the toolshed at the upper end. Rachel's father, William, was born in PA and at the time of his marriage was listed as of Solebury, PA.. Her mother, Effie Housel ,was born in New Jersey, again almost certainly in Hunterdon County, ca. March 1803, the daughter of John Housel and Elizabeth [--?--]. Effie died on 15 Oct. 1891, in Delaware Township, and her age at the time of death was given on her death certificate as 88 yrs and 7 mos., but on her tombstone it states her age as 88 years, 6 mos. and 17 days. She and William are both buried in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant, NJ. The censuses show that they lived in Alexandria Township for many years. I have been told that their home (the house is still there ) was at the corner of Rt. 625 (Mechlin's Corner Rd) and Airport Rd. in Alexandria (near the small airport) and that is certainly consistent with the map of 1873, which shows Wm. Roberts as the owner of the property. William died 22 Feb. 1877 and his tombstone gives his dob as 28 Dec 1798. William and Effie had at least seven children: Eliza Roberts (1823-1908) who married Jackson Burket and lived in Kingwood Township,George H. Roberts(1826-1908), who married (1) Sarah Elizabeth Oakes, and (2) Wilhemina (Mary) Lenanec, , Rachel Ann Roberts (1830-1887) who married Andrew R. Sherman, John B. Roberts , 1834-1907, who married Hannah Oakes (daughter of Peter Oakes and Elsie Duckworth), Amanda Roberts,(born Aug. 1837) who married Isaiah (Isiah) Thatcher , Hannah M. Roberts ( 1841-1930) who married William Philkill, and Susan M. Roberts (born circa 1842/43). Nothing is known about Susan except that the 1860 census shows her, age 18, living with her sister Eliza Burket in Kingwood. I hope this is helpful. If you have any more questions, I will see if I can dredge anything else up. Kay

    3. Dear Frank, Don't rule out the Baptists. They established a 'meeting house' in Hopewell as early as 1748, but had been meeting together there since 1715. 1. Re: [NJHUNTER] Fw: Lester Sherman
    2. Dear Marfy, Dave is quite right that Lester was the son of Manning Force Sherman and his first wife Amy Catherine Bellis. Manning later married Edith Horne and had five more children---an unamed baby girl, Jeremiah Sherman (died as an infant), Norman Sherman, Paul Q. Sherman and Margaret Sherman. Manning was the brother of George R. Sherman and also the brother of my grandfather, Stacy G. Sherman. George and Sarah Maust had only two daughters , Edna Blanche Sherman and Katherine (Katie) Sherman. Edna married Jacob B. Risler and was Mildred's mother. Katie Sherman married George Marshall and lived for a number of years in Frenchtown. Sincerely, Kay Larsen

    3. Dear Gary and Dave, and others, The Cornelius Myers's of Hunterdon County have bedeviled me for years. Here's some of what I've got on them-- 1. Cornelius, born 1747 to John Johannes Myers/Miers of Amwell (c.1725-c.1775) and wife Catherine, and brother of Albertus Myers [see Gary's note below]. In his pension application he mentions having to come home for awhile because Tories in the neighborhood had killed his cows. 2. Cornelius, born 1768 to Sebastian Bost or Boston Myers (born abt 1730, died abt 1808 Walpack, Sussex Co.) and Elizabeth Langevelt. I don't know anything else about this Cornelius. 3. Cornelius, born 1785 to Cornelius Myers (1), I think, married Hannah French 1810, died 1843-1850 in Delaware Twp, had four daughters. 4. Cornelius, born 1796 to Albertus Myers and Anne Hann, married Rebecca Mason 1818, died March 1843. A Cornelius Myers died intestate in 1843, and I haven't been able to prove whether it was #3 or #4. Until your email, Gary, I did not know who his children were. 5. Cornelius, born 1806 to ??, married Charity Williamson, 8 Aug 1835. Regards, Marfy P.S. to Dave, I'm afraid I can't help you with Duckworths. -----Original Message----- From: Gary Myers [mailto:grmyers@iowatelecom.net] Sent: Thursday, June 02, 2005 10:31 PM To: NJHUNTER-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [NJHUNTER] Cornelius Myers, Duckworth, Hann, Mason Marfy and interested parties, This is an offshoot from the *Duckworth/Bellesfelt* line of e-mails regarding *Cornelius Myers* born 11-18-1796 in Hunterdon Co. 2. Hello Everyone, I am looking for a city directory for Philly about 1900. I am looking for my G Grandparents. I found them on the 1910 census but can not find them on the 1900 either in Pa or NJ. They had arrived in this country in the late 1880's I'm lost. Anyone have any info? Thanks Ann

I picked up information on the Sherman family from Mildred Wehr (perhaps you know her?), and she had a Lester Sherman as the son of George R. and Sarah Maust Sherman. I do not have any dates for this Lester, but now I gather that there were two Lesters living in the same general area at about the same time. Does that fit with your information? Marfy Goodspeed

    3. Hi Gary, I think we "spoke" previously. I did not realize you do not have the Reep/Sherman connection. Fayetta Henrietta Reep was my grandmother. She married Lester Bellis Sherman on December 25, 1912 in Locktown, NJ. Lester b. 7-9-1891 in Locktown, d. 4-6-1970 in Belmar, NJ was the only child of Manning Force Sherman and Amy Catherine Bellis. Children of George Duckworth and Elizabeth Bellesfelt are John, Frederick, Philip, George, Jane, Elsie, and Mary. At this time I don't have any spouses or dates for any of the children. Let me know if this helps.......
