Thanks Girls, that information helps. Have taken note. Ann
There is a book that I have made copies from on Genealogy.com (MyFamily.com also) called "Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy, 1750-1930" by William Wade Hinshaw. It says on the title page, "Vol. 1 containing every item of genealogical value found in all records and minutes of the 33 oldest monthly meetings, which belong, or ever belonged, to the North Carolina yearly meeting of friends (whose records are know to be still in existence) with Supplement to Vol. 1 compiled by Thomas Worth Marshall. Published by the Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc. All this is on the title page. There are several volumes and even though it says "North Carolina" it contains the Fairfax Monthly Meeting, VA, (Vol. VI), Goose Creek MM, Hopewell MM, Alexandria, among others. I was interested in the Virginia Quakers at the time I was looking, but it has NJ also because my Virginia bunch started out at the Hopewell MM in NJ. There was a Hopewell MM in Virginia also, but I think you might want to check this out to see if NJ is included in this writing. There are at least 6 volumes. I felt like I was reading "the checklist of sins" of my family members. Hope this helps you. I was unable to do much research on this trip to NJ. Was at the church for a memorial for my Aunt. I would have loved to spend more time, and even toyed with the idea of posting my location to the list...however I was unable to read the list postings, or send an offer. Trip was too short however to accomplish much anyway! I did ask who the historian was, and that's when I found out that the 3 cemeteries located at the church are all seperate. The oldest cemetery is located to the south of the church, and the historian is Ginny Straub (local); the cemetey located to the southwest of the "old" cemetery is administered by Catherine DeMott of Flemington; and the North cemetery (where I was strolling) is administered by Helen Frazee of Liberty Corner in Somerset. Unfortunately, I didn't have the opportunity to get the contact numbers for these women. Hope this is of help to some of you. The cemeteries are all fortunately in pretty good condition, other than the normal aging of the oldest stones, with the occasional fallen ones. Good Luck and Happy Hunting. Marshall, I don't have the answer, but do have questions on Jonathan. Do you have his spouse, and his parents? I suspect his parents may be Isaac Robins & Asubia Thacher, but lack proof. I do not know anything of Edward H. Bellis, but I do know that Hannah Eliza (Aller) Bellis was the daughter of the Rev. Nathan Aller and his first wife, Hannah Owen, dau of Thomas Owen. Most of the information on the children and wives of Nathan Aller came from his son Henry Aller's biography in Portrait and Biographical Record of Hunterdon and Warren Counties, New Jersey. The death of Hannah Aller Bellis was printed in the Hunterdon Co Democrat as "Mrs. H. E. Bellis, died Monday July 5, 1937 at her home in Philadelphia. She leaves a brother, Henry Aller, two nephews, L. N. Aller and Clarence Aller, and a niece, Mrs. H. P. Laros of Modesto, California." Hannah's mother died on April 11, 1852 after giving birth to Hannah who was named for her mother. She and Edward H. (or H. E.) Bellis had no children or none who survived to maturity. Hi Gloria, I don't know too much about Elizabeth Fox. I know she married John Myers in 1814 in Hunterdon County but that's about it. I doubt that it is the same Elizabeth Fox given the dates. Do you know if Christopher Philhower passed away before 1814? Was wondering if anyone on the list may have digital photos of the "Bethlehem" and "Alexandria" entries from the Beer's Atlas that they could forward to me. Recently found deeds for an ancestor that purchased/sold land along the boundaries of these townships. While the property had been sold by this time (1873) I do have the names of the purchasers in the mid 1830's. Names that I've been able to decipher include (both buyers and sellers, BEAVERS, LERCH, OPYDYCKE, ROBBINS, MAURER...with more to come. Can any one help? Wendy
