    3. Joyce, Thank you for your response. The caption under George Butler's name is: "Him we call an artist." It indicates that he participated on the Crescent (yearbook) staff, class play and the athletic association. Subsequent pages of this yearbook show that the senior play was "Golden Days", which was originally on Broadway in 1918, and dealt with a war theme. Young George played the character of "Lloyd Henderson". He also played in "Comus, A Masque" by John Milton. George portrayed "The Earl of Bridgewater". At the back of the yearbook, there is a neat little update of graduating classes, 1888 through 1923, by student name. It shows basically "who's doing what", including tidbits about marriages, jobs, etc. (six pages). I will post this informaton to my website shortly, as it makes for interesting reading. http://www.geocities.com/bgmcdonough.geo Beverly G. 1. Re: [NJHUNTER] 1924 Yearbook BUTLER Family
    2. Joyce; Noticed your post regarding Clinton High School and that you are related to Butlers. Do you have info on who his grandparents were? My g-g-grandmother was born Caroline Butler in either Warren or Hunterdon Co. in 1838 to John and Eliza Butler. She pretty much grew up in Hunterdon Co and married John Probasco. They built a home that still stands just south of Pittstown, which I was lucky enough to visit a few years ago! (I live in Kansas.) She had brothers named John, David and William born between 1843 and 1848 and I am looking for descendants of theirs. John Probasco and Caroline Butler Probasco's only son, William Probasco, was born there in 1856, but went west as a young man and married and raised his family in southwestern Iowa. His daughter was my grandmother and I know that as a little girl she went back to visit her grandparents in NJ with her father on the train between 1905-1912, when her father died suddenly. Anyway, would love to know what became of my grandmother's grandmother's Butler family that stayed in Hunterdon Co. Are you any relation? 2. Runyan, Fuller
    3. Dear Kay & List; I joined this list two years ago in the hopes of tracking down a mystery relative, Grace (Runyan) Strine. I knew just about everything about her except for when & where she died. Thanks to you, I just found her on the Easton Express obituary index - dated September 29, 1954, page 30. I've been at this family history quest for five years, and (excuse the lapse in modesty) I'm pretty good at it. I've filled in a lot of blanks for myself and for other researchers, but dear old Aunt Grace has successfully hid from me until just now. Now if I can just find her big sister, Florence (Runyan) Miles... Many thanks and happy hunting to all, Fuller Runyan Harrisburg, PA -----Original Message----- From: KaySFO@aol.com [mailto:KaySFO@aol.com] Sent: Tuesday, June 14, 2005 5:09 PM To: NJHUNTER-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [NJHUNTER] Obituary Indexes from the Easton Express--Online I just wanted to let everyone know that the staff at the Marx Room at Easton Area Public Library, Easton, PA, has put their obituary indexes online. 3. Hey, guys -- a friendly reminder: I don't want to be a grumpy type, but please let Evelyn know that you have received your index via her own personal email address and not via the NJHunter rootsweb list. Some of us receive upwards of 80 emails a day. We would appreciate not having to wade through ones like this that need only be seen by Evelyn. Nancy and Maryann, I apologise if I appear to have singled you out. I do not mean to offend you. I have been guilty of hitting the reply button too quickly myself. Please take this as a humble request and nothing more. In fact, I have a large range of books on Hunterdon and personal knowledge of the place, having grown up there. Please let me know if there is ever anything I can do for you. Thanks so much. Warmest regards to all Hunterdon researchers, Mary Jo C. Martin Melbourne, Australia

Susanna and Isaac would have lived in Alexandria Twp. > I don't have the answer, but do have questions on Jonathan. Do you have > his spouse, and his parents? I suspect his parents may be Isaac Robins > & Asubia Thacher, but lack proof. I have never seen any indication at all as to the spouse of Jonathan ROBINS (who bought 285 acres in Alexandria Twp from Anne MERRILL in 1751). Neither have I ever seen any hard evidence as to Jonathan's parents. There has been much conjecture saying that Jonathan is the son of Isaac ROBINS and Asubia THACHER/THATCHER, but I have never seen anything concrete to support this. The only support I know of is the location, timing, and naming pattern. It's a shame that Jonathan is not mentioned in the will of Isaac ROBINS. I have also seen conjecture that Jonathan ROBINS is the son of Daniel & Mary ROBINS (who bought land in Burlington Co in 1709 which I believe became part of Hunterdon Co when it was formed in 1714). It seems that Jonathan ROBINS' death is accepted as being in 1796 when a Jonathan ROBINS Sr and Jr in Alexandria Twp both died intestate around the same time (their inventories were both done at the same time). But I think it's quite possible that this Jonathan died in 1774. There's a 1773 deed passing land in Alexandria Twp from Jonathan to Isaac which was originally acquired from Anne MERRILL. -- Marshall Lake -- mlake@mlake.net -- http://mlake.net
