Marfy I am seeking additional information on Cornelius born 1747 & Albertus Myers. Parents listed as John Johannes Myers/Miers (c. 1725 - c. 1775) and wife Catherine, also their sibblings. I noticed in one of your postings you listed (see below). I am related to Albertus & Anna Hahn/Hann Myers through another son, Peter. Any assistance you or any other interested party could supply would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Marilyn Myers Jones minnj@sbcglobal.net or lamar@snowcrest.net Dear Gary and Dave, and others, The Cornelius Myers's of Hunterdon County have bedeviled me for years. Here's some of what I've got on them-- 1. Cornelius, born 1747 to John Johannes Myers/Miers of Amwell (c.1725-c.1775) and wife Catherine, and brother of Albertus Myers [see Gary's note below]. In his pension application he mentions having to come home for awhile because Tories in the neighborhood had killed his cows. 2. Cornelius, born 1768 to Sebastian Bost or Boston Myers (born abt 1730, died abt 1808 Walpack, Sussex Co.) and Elizabeth Langevelt. I don't know anything else about this Cornelius. 3. Cornelius, born 1785 to Cornelius Myers (1), I think, married Hannah French 1810, died 1843-1850 in Delaware Twp, had four daughters. 4. Cornelius, born 1796 to Albertus Myers and Anne Hann, married Rebecca Mason 1818, died March 1843. A Cornelius Myers died intestate in 1843, and I haven't been able to prove whether it was #3 or #4. Until your email, Gary, I did not know who his children were. 5. Cornelius, born 1806 to ??, married Charity Williamson, 8 Aug 1835. Regards, Marfy
There is a drawing and biography of Nathan Lance in the Snell book, - I can make a copy and send it to you if you'd like. Nathan Lance married Margaret Fritts, and Sarah Lance married Thomas Fritts. I think Nathan and Sarah were brother and sister, but can't be sure. -- Donna

I would love the Frederick Fritts book. I think somewhere between $50- $75 would be fair, plus shipping. Send me your address, and I will send you a check or money order. Thanks - Donna

David: Check out your closest LDS (Mormon) Family History Center and see if they have access to it. It costs nothing and you will be welcomed. If they have to send to Salt Lake City, there will be a very small charge. David: Please keep the list (and me!) informed if you can find these records. I have also been hoping to locate them, but am not in a position to do a lot of legwork in that part of the country. I also searched the NJ Archives in Trenton without any luck. Those records could really have a lot of information of interest to me if they cover the 1760-1800 timeframe. I have been wondering for a while what might have happened to them, but a lot of records from those times have simply been lost, destroyed, forgotten, etc. Doug Gordon ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Hoffman" <dvh592341@fastmail.fm> To: <NJHUNTER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, June 25, 2005 11:41 AM Subject: Hopewell Baptist Church records > Where are the Hopewell Baptist Church records? David, Somewhere, awhile back, I remember learning that these Baptist church records are not housed in NJ but in Philadelphia, PA somewhere in a Baptist church Archive. I know that here in NC all the Jersey Baptist Church records and in fact all the NC Baptist church records from the beginnings to present day are on microfilm and stored at Wake Forest University library here in Winston-Salem. I have gone there and made photocopies of the microfilm records for several of the Baptist churches including Jersey Baptist where all the folks from Hopewell came to - I would check with university libraries and with the Baptist church itself as to where the records are stored in Philadelphia. Susan
Thanks to generous souls on the list, I've found out that the name THELSEY in the following information should be KELSEY. Where are the Hopewell Baptist Church records? The input was greatly appreciated. Someone recommended checking the Family History Library catalog. This is what they had: Church records, 1748-1811 Baptist Church (Hopewell, New Jersey). Microreproduction of original at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania. Contains records of baptisms, marriages, deaths, admissions, dismissals, miscellaneous church records. The online catalog for the Historical Society of Pennsylvania has it combined with German Reformed Baptisms: German Reformed Church baptisms 1763-1801, Alexander Twp., Hunterdon County, New Jersey and Baptist Church records 1749, Hopewell, Mercer County, New Jersey. [Alexander Twp obviously an error] I was unable to find it in the NJ State Library online catalog. David -- http://www.fastmail.fm - And now for something completely differentÂ…
Dave, You should include the Hunterdon Co. Hall of Records, just north of the courthouse on Main St., Flemington. I only had 3 hrs. there, and pulled 16 Deeds for ancestors. They have them indexed by Grantor and Grantee, staff is extremely helpful in getting newbies set up, copies are .25 a page. Might be a good spot to hit before you hit the Hunt.Co.Hist.Soc.(due to "open" hours). I believe they also have Court of Common Pleas, Mortgages, some indexed marriages....don't know what else, didn't have enough time. At the Hunt.Co.Library, I suggest that you hit their "Jerseyana" collection. In particular, you want to check out the volumes of "The Jerseyman" by Hiriam Deats, MD. There are tons of genealogical information in these articles written for the Hunterdon County Hist. Soc.. I'm sure they have these volumes also at the Hist.Soc., but the hours are better at the library. If you have a digital camera, the library will allow you to take photos of the pages, lot faster than transcribing and cheaper than photocopying...just make sure to check each shot for legibility...I didn't until I returned to Florida with about 4 blurred pages...darn it! They also have the Beer's Atlas for Hunterdon there. If you do have a digital camera, and you do take photos of the Beer's Atlas, I would be "eternally grateful" for copies of "Bethlehem and Alexandria Twps." ;-) (The blurred ones that I now need!) Williamson, Joseph G. PostID: 7485 State: NJ Country: U.S.A. Birth State: PA Birth Country: U.S.A. Birth Date: 11/17/1824 Ordination: 11/21/1849 City: Sidney. N.J. Birth City: Philadelphia Note: Rev. Joseph G. Williamson came to supply one Sunday and remained 52 years from 1849-1900 at the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in Grandin, N.J. Founded in 1730 the orginal building was a log structure replace in 1760 by a frame meeting house. This was torn down or destroyed by fire in 1830 and replaced by a stone church of 40x50 feet, giving way to the present structure built in 1870. During its history this church was known variously as the "Old Stone Church", "New Stone Church", "Grandin Church" and the "Bethlehem Presbyterian Church", has been served by only nine pastors.
Here is what I have on those pastors, but they may have served others congregations also, I don't know. Rev. Joseph Rue who was pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Hopewell Rev. Peter O. David, I have a Wilson marriage mentioned in Deats book, pg 316, 27 Dec 1814, Thomas Reeder to Miss Wilson, Vol 2 p. 144, Rue. These are my ggg grandparents. This is Anna Wilson b. 9 Jan 1794 d. 25 May 1838, dau of William Wilson b. 15 March 1756 d. 13 Oct 1812 and Sarah. I have not verified this information. Some of it came only from Francis B. Lee's, Gen. And Mem. History Of New Jersey, 1900, which I have found to have many errors. I have found the same information from other people who evidently got it from Lee also. I have not worked on the Wilson line yet. Another researcher, Arline Sarver, corresponded with me on Wilson, back in February. I her email if you are interested. I have more on Anna Wilson and Thomas Reeder. (note - Thomas Reeder's death is wrong in the book by Lee, he had 15 Sep 1857 and the official NJ record at the NJ Archives says 16 Sep 1854). Thomas married second Mrs. Roseanna Smith who I finally identified as Roseanna Barron of Durham, Bucks, PA, widow of Robert Smith. I would be interested in what you know or find about the Wilson's.
