Through searching I found my Grandparents buried in Locust Grove Cemetery in Plot # 1 along with my Aunt and Uncle. My question is how I can find where Charles and Luqueer Warde were living before their death. Luqueer died in 1926 and Charles in 1930. I know for a fact it was Hunterdon County by my Mothers accounts. Any help would be greatly appreciated. [email protected] No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. Hi, I am trying to track down the Hunterdon Co., NJ "Smith" family as well! I've been trying for many, many years. My Elizabeth Smith b.24 Nov. 1767 and d. 07 Jun. 1836 in Baptisttown, NJ. Eliz. was married to David Curtis b.04 Mar 1763 and who d. 01 Feb 1848 in Baptisttown, NJ. It is possible that Eliz was the niece of "Barefoot" Smith. I cannot find her direct family line. If you find any information that you would share, I would be eternally greatful. It appears that Caspar Schmidt would have been born about 1755 +/- a few years. Gertraut Schmidt is shown as the godparent for Caspar's daughter Gertraut's baptism so I assume Casper to be the child of Herbert and Gertraud. I will be reviewing some will's to see if there is evidence of that. In the meantime, I would appreciate any data you may have uncovered on Casper and his family. Although Herbert would be 50 years old, Gertraud is 15 years younger so she would be 35 and still of childbearing age. I will let you know if I uncover clear proof next week. Dan, I'm not sure what family group you are referring to; however, I have a fifth great aunt, Anna Maria (Martin) Hess who married a Caspar Schmidt in the 1770's or so (I have Reformed baptismal records of their children). They lived in Alexandria Township. Might Caspar and Hermet (Herbert) have been related ? I also have a Smith family in Port Colden and Washington, Warren Co. in early 1800's but they were Methodists. I did not copy and paste the entire text, here for your pleasure, is the listing of the other children besides Jane. Pg. 2022, Abstracts of Rev. War Pension Files. "LATOURATTE, Peter, Margaret, W4011, NJ Line, sol appl 21 Jun 1819 Hunterdon Co NJ, on 7 May 1823 sol was aged 68, wid appl 15 Oct 1838 Hunterdon Co NJ aged 82, sol & wid had m. 3 Dec 1777 & sol d 1 apr 1836, there were 2 small sheets of family data of which 1 was too dark to read & portions of the other were too light to read, the ligible parts were: Thomas Stout Latourrett b. in 1789 & Garrett Latourrette b 17 Mar 1798, 1 child b in 1792 name too dim to read, on 16 Dec 1850 in Hunterdon Co NJ a son Cornelius Latourette made aff'dt & stated wid d 20 Jul 1850 leaving children; Thomas S. Latourette, Elizabeth who married William Dalley, Garrett & Cornelius Latourette." The 1792 child could possibly be Jane. Or one of the other siblings. But the troubling thing is that Cornelius does not mention Jane in his affidavit here in or around 1850, she may have died prior to this as she clearly was listed as having some physical problems but we can't know this for a fact and I have not yet counted her (Jane) in my family file. These pages are very difficult to read from the photo copies I have from my cousin Barbara who was stationed in DC a few years ago. She was able to copy from the archives herself but even she could not completely identify entries on these pages and she saw the originals. Sharon
The only children of Peter and Margaret Stout LaTourette are listed within pension file records for Peter (he was Rev. War Vet) and I have copies of the affidavits when he and then she as a widow filed with the government the children from the affidavit text are as follows: (Misspelling are consistent with the original text and I have not changed them at all in which case this is true to the original text.) >From the Archives in Washington DC the original pension claim of Peter, contributed by Barbara Gerovac. Ann Latourette b: 5 Jun 1815 in Hillsboro Twp, Somerset, NJ c: 3 Jul 1815 7. Peter P. Latourette b: 3 Oct 1817 in Hillsboro Twp, Somerset, NJ There is a Magadlene (as spelled in Ancestry.com) Waldron shown with William on the 1850 Raritan, Hunterdon, New Jersey census. Living nearby is Zebulon with Lettetia Stout and James with Elizabeth Deats. Also living in Raritan, Hunterdon County, New Jersey is Garrit Latourrette. Garrett Latourette was born in 1798 to Peter and Margaret (Stout) Latourette. I wonder if Magdalene was also a child of Peter and Margaret Latourette. She would have been a very late baby as Margaret would have be about 50, but possible and the location is right. In 1860 it shows Magdalene Waldron with William in Raritan, Hunterdon, New Jersey. Living nearby is James Laterett age 19 - a nephew maybe? Also, living nearby are two families with familiar name - Zebulon with Letitia and James with Elizabeth Deats. According to the above Mary Nietzer (Nitzer, Neitser, Nitser, Nietser) was the mother of Magdalene Latourette. I believe Jacob Nitzer (spouse Mary Kase or Maria Case) was Mary's father. I found the following on the internet: Hunterdon County Democrat Mar 17, 1841, Vol III, No. 29 (133) Died In Lebanon, on Saturday, the 27th ult., Jacob Nitzer, in the 100th year of his age. http://njsuttonfamily.org/Newspaper/jan1841.htm This is not much, but I hope somewhat helpful. I am interested in this family as I have recently developed a theory that my Smith line in Warren and Sussex emerged out of this group and may have now found the link. I need to do some more research to prove or disprove the connection. I was interested to learn that the Presbyterians and the German Reformed Church were closely aligned and could explain why many of the Smiths in Warren County are Presbyterians. If anyone has had a reason to take a look at this issue or this family group, I would appreciate your response. Dan **************Start the year off right. I have a fair amount of information back to Richmond Hills and a little beyond. Of course mine includes Mersereau data as well, and there is some information on these people. I have Rev. War pension files for Peter and Cornelius (brother or cousin of Peter). The pension files are nice to have because there are wonderful narratives regarding service and dependents. I can go back to the first ancestor and create report and email it directly to you. Would be wonderful to fill in any of my side lines as I have neglected these. I did post the pension files quite a while back to the list. These were for Peter and Cornelius probably 2 years ago now and these would be in the archives at rootsweb.com. I will compile and send to you off list. If you have this information could you send me a copy of the records as I will need the proofs for her application? I have emailed Jan Alpert directly. Hopefully her email is the same as it was in early 2005. Thank you very much for your help. Hi Reba: I have a Magdalene LaTourette (b 8 Aug 1808) who married William VanFleet Waldron on 20 Feb 1830. Her father was a Peter LaTourette. I never have found which Peter LaTourette she married. Below are some notes I have accumulated over the years. They are kind of a hodge podge. If in your research you have come across information about Magdalene's father, Peter LaTourette, I would appreciate any help.
