    2. To Kathie Kirpatrick, When I was on my junket to Hunterdon County this last week, I spotted in a loose file on Smith's a couple of articles on Barefoot Smith. One was from 1933 by Egbert T. Bush in the local paper, maybe a column on local history. "Barefoot Smith Not a Transient". I remembered your response on my Smith inquiry and took a copy. If you haven't seen this before e-mail me at [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) . Dan V **************Start the year off right. 2. I was just reading in "Some Records of Old Hunterdon county by Phyllis B. D'Autrechy" that many of the names in the Alexandria Germany Reformed Church have undergone transformations. I have been looking at the Schmid's become Smith's. Another one she sites is Hausschild becoming Housel. So you might look for that German spelling in the records if you haven't already. Also, you might look at the Alexandria Church Records form 1763 to 1795 if you are back that far. They have about 600 baptisms and a few marriages. I have a copy if you want me to look up anything up but I think parts of it are online and it is probably fairly available. Dan Vornberg **************Start the year off right. 2. I have not seen that connection in anything I have been looking at in the archives this week. The "Barefoot Smith" name is out there however, in early tax rolls and other records. As of yet, I don't see any connection with what I believe is my line. Dan **************Start the year off right. 3. Hi John, If you know the date of death (at least the month and year), it will be possible to check for obituaries in the weekly Hunterdon Democrat Newspaper. Also, Charles may have left a will at the Hunterdon County Surrogates Court in Flemington. A search of property records at the County Hall of Records may also yield some good results. I'm willing to help you as a volunteer, and will contact you privately. Thanks for the pictures!!! Beverly G.
