Dear Nettie, Thanks so much. He left behind so many significant photographs, I'm going to add that bit to my notes (if I haven't already done so, and forgotten it). Dear Shelley, What a nice gesture. I don't have any Robins in H-don, but I do know how rare these family photos can be. If you don't get a hit here, you might try the Robins surname boards at Rootsweb and Genforum. I have a photo of what I believe to be my GG Grandmother also taken at "Fritz's." Somewhere I also have an address for the studio, but it would take a bit of digging. Dear Calvin Researchers, There was a Luther Calvin/Colvin (b. ca. 1794, d 1870)living in Brown County OH who married Clarissa Hewitt (my line). In 1997 the Brown County Genealogical Society, Georgetown OH sent me a bio on Luther. Unfortunately while some of it is documented, it is unsigned so I don't know the author. Here is what it says: Luther Calvin, born Hunterdon County NJ 1747; married ca 1768 Priscilla LeForge (LeFarge); moved to the Romney region, Hampshire Co VA, on the "south branch of the Potomac River: where their first child was born in 1769; later moved to western PA to Fallowfield Twp, Washington Co PA. Virginia records show service during the Revolutionary War of "Lowther Calvin" under Capt. George Rogers Clark, for which he was paid off at Ft. Pitt on 10-4-1775; PA Archives show "Luther Calvin" as a private in the Washington County Militia in 1781, and a member of the "Rangers who served on the Frontier between 1778 and 1783." That this was Captain Luther Calvin of Mason County KY, is shown by statements of Mrs. Sarah (Conrey) Riley, Luther Calvin's granddaughter; and also by statements of Perry Calvin, Luther Calvin's grandson (Draper Collection), both of whom declared their "grandfather, before coming to Mason County KY, lived on the Redstone or Monongahela in western Pennsylvania" and by the further facts that there is no record of Luther Calvin in Washington County PA after 1783, and "that Captain Luther Calvin came to Mason County early in 1785." Luther Calvin signed the Petition for the dividion of Mason County from Bourbon County, 8-25-1786. (see "History of Maysville & Mason County" by Glenn Clift, page 55). In 1785 the Limestone Baptist Church was organized in Washington, Mason County, by William Wood, who became its first pastor. Nine members constituted the first church...listed among them "Luther Calvin, Priscilla Calvin: (See "The Historic Past of Washington Mason County Kentucky" by Edna Hunter Best, page 49. Luther Calvin married 2nd in Mason County KY on 12-2-1802, Ruth Corwin. No issued by this marriage. Luther Calvin died Mason County KY. Will dated 10-6-1831; proven November Court 1831. (Will Book H., page 473). Issue of Luther Calvin and wife Priscilla LeForge (died before 1802). Sarah Calvin born Hampshire Co Va 1769 married John Conrey Stephen Colvin born in VA 4-23-1772; married Susannah Ralston in Mason County KY on 10-4-1795, moved to Brown Co OH then to Edgar Co IL where he died "1846 aged 74 years." James Calvin born 1773, died Johnson Co IN 1839 Mary Calvin Nancy Calvin married John Crosby Luther Calvin Jr. died ca. 1809 Mason Co KY Vincent Calvin Joseph Calvin Abraham Calvin Priscilla Calvin There is more, including an excerpt from the Draper Manuscript Collection about Captain Luther Calvin. I also have more on Luther Calvin who married Clarissa Hewitt and moved to Johnson County IN. I hope this helps your research. I have a Luther COLVIN/CALVIN (5 May 1772 Bethlehem Twp, Hunterdon Co - 1 Nov 1841 Green Twp, Columbiana Co, Ohio) marrying Lydia COOL/KUHL (3 Jun 1768 Kingwood Twp, Hunterdon Co - 11 May 1857 in Mahoning Co, Ohio) in Jun 1794 in Hampshire Co, VA (now WV). Luther son of Joshua COLVIN/CALVIN (14 Sep 1742 Hunterdon Co - 4 Oct 1832 Mahoning Co) and Sarah OPDYKE. Lydia dau of Phillip COOL/KUHL and Catharine Eva HUMMER. Shelley..... Go back to the 1920 Census for Herbert & Inez Fordham and see if they resided at 817 Main St in Greenport, NY. Today, there's a "Fordham House B&B" at that address, and it was once the home of "H. Fletcher Fordham" a master ship builder. I've "rescued" an old photograph identified as Inez ROBINS which was taken at the Frank Z. Fritz Studio in Lambertville, New Jersey. The photograph indicates that Inez was 13 years old when the photograph was taken, likely sometime in the 1880's. In addition to her name and age, someone has written "school friend of Margaret FELL" on the front of the photograph. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information: Inez Grinnell ROBBINS b. 8 Nov 1870 in Clinton, NJ to parents William Delaun ROBBINS (b, 8 Dec 1838 in Copenhagen, NY) and Amelia "Millie" MISNER (b. 1844). Inez married Herbert Latham FORDHAM (b. 23 Nov 1869 in Greenport, NY) on 21 Jun 1900. I do not believe that Inez and Herbert had any children. Census records provide the following information: 1880 census of Clinton, NJ: W. D. L. ROBBINS, age 41, a Teacher, born NY, parents born MA/NY Amelia M. ROBBINS, wife, age 36, Keeping House, born NY, parents born NY Inez G. ROBBINS, dau, age 9, born NJ + 1 servant + 1 boarder 1920 census of Greenport, NY: Herbert FORDHAM, age 50, born NY, parents born NY, a Lawyer Inez FORDHAM, wife, age 49, born NJ, parents born NY + a Maid I am hoping to locate someone from the family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to their care. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
