On the 1880 Census for Elisha, his wife's name is Emma C not Hannah. Did he call her Emma instead?? Showing that her parents born in NJ, too. Same as his. Or is Hannah an error over all. And or too, we know that Census can be taken with a "Grain of Salt". Also on the same census pages 11 and 13 are more families of HOLCOMBE and JONES very near to one another. My greatgrandmother (whom I remember as she died when I was in high school) was a Naylor. Her father was Joseph Gardner Bowne Naylor, born March 7, 1837 in Pine Hill, Hunterdon County. In 1862 he married Elemline Van Syckle. They are both buried in Rosemont. Any relation to you other Naylors? Joseph Naylor's mother was Deborah Leigh, whose mother was a Rockefeller. They also connect to the Stouts, including the famous Penelope! Sharon Harry and Sharon Moore Colquhoun Yardville, NJ Our family website http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hscc/
This family, parts and parcel of it are listed on www.familysearch.org . Input after 1991 it says. Possibly your information once more. Willard's parents listed. Back quite a ways on the one side. There is also on rts wb a couple databases, with an Ida M BEATTY with parents. Birth ca Feb 1878. No spouse listed. Again, could that be your information? Did you check out on the 1900 Census for New Jersey, a family of Anders KELLY with a son Willard age 7?? Possibly related? Near that family is a SCHENK family. cw In a message dated 5/27/2008 11:18:47 A.M. Does anyone have any information on Samuel Stockton Hart, who married Jemima Lanning on 20 Dec 1810 in Hunterdon, NJ? I am looking for the name of their children. I did find them in the 1830, 1840 and 1850 census in Hopewell. Thanks. Mel [email protected]

Have you tried to contact her to see if you are related in some way?? As I am not LDS, so I do not know how to interpret all those numbers and etc, if there is a date buried within it was submitted. Marilyn and Leon and Melva: Several databases seem to have your Mary "Polly" JONES married to VANKIRK, no given name. I have also seen that surname as just "VNKIRK or VN KIRK". Possibly they all are "assuming" that they are one and the same from your posting to the list?? (Also on Fredericlathrop database of Hunterdon Co. NJ past and present.) You listed her death place, and that she was buried there in New Jersey in the churchyard. Since she was buried there in the churchyard cemetery, did you write to them and ask if that was where the couple were also married?? Possibly there might be more information on the marriage record at the church?? Were the children also christened and or baptized there as well?? In the past, granted, before 1990, I did send away to my husband's church he attended, (Lancaster, PA) and with a nominal donation to the building fund, did receive back copies of his baptismal certificate, and quite a list of those other family members of his who attended and were married, etc. there. Again, that was a long time ago, so not sure if that is still really done anymore. ???? DO NOT KNOW. Am also a long way from New Jersey, so really have to depend on the kindness of others. Dear Leon, At this point my Jones information is nearly as thin as yours. My GG Grandfather, Elisha E. Holcombe, was married to Hannah C. Jones. I have their marriage date as 1 November 1848. From her tombstone in Mt. Airy cemetery, I know Hannah was born in 1826. She died in 1902. As of 1870 the were living on a farm in Delaware Township near the border with West Amwell (the location may or may not be in Delaware Twp. today). The home is still standing. Unfortunately, I have nothing on Hannah C. Jones' parents -- she is definitely on my list for further digging. Hopefully, we can share our way to something solid. Thanks for writing. Dear Nettie, I visited Lambertville 3 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it, I really think it has benefited greatly by being "discovered" long after New Hope (for which I'm not too sure there is much hope). I will send you a copy of my Fritz photo with direct e-mail, since I don't think the list will accept photo attachments. It just occurred to me that there are still Robbins in Lambertville. Don't know if any of them know their heritage or are interested in genealogy. Let me ask around. Maybe those photos will find their home after all. Nettie --- "J.F. The city, which is on the east side of the Delaware River, lies across from New Hope, PA. It was originally known as Coryell's Ferry, named for the ferry boat that transported workers across the river. In 1814 it was renamed Lambertville by the Postmaster, John Lambert. There was a prominent Lambert family in the town. Capt. John Lambert built The Lambertville House on Bridge Street. "Captain Lambert's uncle, the Hon. John Lambert, represented his fellow citizens both in the State Legislature and Council. Later he was elected to the U.S. House of Representative and during Jeffereson's administration to the the Senate. It was whilehe was int he Senate in 1814 that he procured the first post office for this town, which he proceeded to call Lambert's Ville. HIs nephew, Joh Lambert, was designated post master." Jack, I was raised in a row home (now known as a "town house" since Lambertville has become a trendy tourist mecca!) at 49 Coryell St., so Fritz's address has always had some significance for me. I collect many of his photos, too, just for the fascination. I also collect any Lambertville memorabilia and information. I plan to write a history of L'ville in my old age, when duties don't take up my time! I used to teach at East Amwell Elementary School in nearby Ringoes. There were a lot of Quicks up there, but I suppose you've found that out. I"ll keep an eye out for your ancestral names as I research. Your reference to Quick and Jones piqued my interest. Jane quick married Asher Kelly , my G Great Uncle, son of Charles Kelly who married Lydia Updike. How does Jones enter into Hunterdon? Kelly, Updike, Schenck, Hunt were very prominent in Hunterdon, How does Jones fit? I have a great photo of my grandmother, Ida Melvina Kelly nee Beatty, but I don't know where it came from. She was married to Willard Holman Kelly of Wertsville, NJ, son of Robert U Kelly, a blacksmith of Lambertville, NJ. Any leads as to Charles M Kelly, a wheelwright of Lambertville, NJ would be appreciated.
