Hello to all, There is also an Elizabeth Pickel who according NJDARM database married Conrad Hockenberry 16 May 1852 in Lebanon, Hunterdon County, NJ. Dot, if you go to google books and type in "Johnathan Pickel of Hunterdon County, New Jersey" you will find many entries, some with only "snippet" views, others in full PDF format to download. Here is one of the Jonathan Pickel's daughters, I assume. History of Bucks County, Pennsylvania edited by J. H. Battle JORDAN H. STOVER, farmer, P. O. Erwinna, is the youngest son of Henry S. Stover, and was born May 1, 1833, in the old homestead, which has been his lite- long home. He learned the miller's trade in his father's mill, and carried on that business until 1886, at the same time cultivating a small farm attached to the homestead. He was educated in Freeland seminary, at Perkiomen, Montgomery county. In 1869 he bought an interest in his father's mill. He remodelled and partially rebuilt the old home, making it an elegant and commodious residence. June 17, 1858, he married Rachel, daughter of Jonathan Pickel, of Hunterdon county, N. J. She was born June 30, 1838. They have three children : Hannah P., the wife of J. C. Lambrite, of Doylestown ; Edward C., married to Elizabeth Coane, living in Trenton, N. J. ; and Lizzie P., who lives with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Stover are members of the Presbyterian church at Frenchtown, N. J., of which he is a trustee. He has always been an active, enterprising business man, and enjoys the respect of his neighbors.
Dot, There is a film copy of at least some of the records available through the Family History Library: Church records of the German Reformed Church, of Alexandria Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey FHL US/CAN Film 441466 Item 2 Ancenstry.com has the records from 1763 through 1802. You may have noticed in the 1850 census of Washington, Macomb, MI Elizabeth Pickle, age 25, b NJ living with the Calkins family. She married John Mann and died in 1897. see Past and Present of Macomb County, Michigan By Robert F. Eldredge, page 406 search Google books for "Elizabeth Pickle" Macomb Bruce and Washington townwhips border each other. I am guessing, but Elizabeth may be a sister of Caroline. I would be interested to hear if you are able to confirm Caroline's parents. Hello, Just a thought, other later siblings could be named after their deceased sibling or are these 2 Elizabeth Pickel girls COUSINS? In my family a given name did not necessarily die with the first child who bore that name, it was carried forward to next living child. Thanks to all who answered my Edward Titus query. I've been to the archives and no one can find my Edward Titus. I've been to his grave so I know he exists. Thanks again for all your help...maybe something will lead to his father.
Mt. Airy is a tiny but sweet little village, visible on the right side of Route 202, as one heads north out of Lambertville toward Flemington (about 3 miles out of Lambertville on 202). The focal point from the highway is the tall white spire of a church. ----- Original Message ----- From: "William Hartman" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, September 19, 2008 6:48 PM Subject: Re: [NJHUNTER] To Cathy Ackerman > Cathy, Thanks for the information, but the second Mount Airy that I am > looking for is definitely in Hunterdon County. > > Mr. Bill > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Cathy Ackerman > To: [email protected] > Sent: Friday, September 19, 2008 3:51 PM > Subject: Re: [NJHUNTER] Blue Mountains found in New Jersey! > > > Hi, I can kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Oh the Mt. Airy Lodge was a historical landmark. Been there several times myself. I understand they tore down the old building. So much for champagne glass tubs and mirrors on the ceilings LOL ----- Original Message ----- From: "Cathy Ackerman" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, September 19, 2008 3:51 PM Subject: Re: [NJHUNTER] Blue Mountains found in New Jersey! > Hi, I can kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Cathy, Thanks for the information, but the second Mount Airy that I am looking for is definitely in Hunterdon County. Hi, I can kill 2 birds with 1 stone. There is a Mt Airy (in the Blue Mountains) section of PA. This is just a little North of Stroudsburg area. They have opened a casino at Mt Airy not too long ago. An addendum to my recent email about Find A Grave. This is the Mt. Airy Cemetery in Hunterdon Co.: Mount Airy Cemetery http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&CRid=2186886&CScnty=1916&CSsr=61& It doesn't have any Warford in it, but perhaps they were buried there and no one has added them yet. Here is another cemetery in Mt. Airy: Rock Church Cemetery Also known as: Old Rocks Cemetery Mt. Airy - Harbourton Road http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&CRid=2142802&CScnty=1916&CSsr=81& And a third. Perhaps it's a duplicate of the above: Rocks Methodist Episcopal, West Amwell, Hunterdon 601 Mt. Airy-Harbourton Road, Mt. Airy http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&CRid=2242957&CScnty=1916&CSsr=101& And a fourth: Stevenson Family Burying Ground, 153 Rock Road West http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&CRid=2242963&CScnty=1916&CSsr=121& Best wishes, Mary Jo ----- Original Message ----- From: Susan Pena To: [email protected] Sent: Friday, September 19, 2008 12:56 AM Subject: [NJHUNTER] Mt.
