This is Helen's family that I am helping her with and family history says she came to MI when she was 3 years old and that she said her parents were Jonathan Pickel and Hannah. In the back of my mind it has always been a doubt and question why would a 3 year old from a good substantial family be going to MI without her parents. The person who found Elizabeth Pickel living nearby and who m John Mann was a Godsend. This Elizabeth and husband John Mann were witnesses at Carrie's marriage to Truman Curtis. Now, is this Elizabeth a sister of cousin? Why would this Elizabeth be from NJ and living so close to Carrie? That is the next mountain to climb. I believe now that Carrie is NOT the dau of Jonathan of Alexandria but another Pickel who migrated to MI in 1836 (if this date is correct). Back to the drawing board. :( Dot

    2. Sorry my mail has been mixed up...starting a clean slate. Thank you for the information about the will. It really helps. I thought I was writing to Dot when I was talking about Rachel. She was one of Jonathan's children and Dot wrote that if we could find a connection between Rachel and Carrie we'd have her where we wanted her. I think the will will help a lot in straightening out some things...or linking some people, maybe. Thanks again, Helen In a message dated 11/15/2008 10:51:51 A.M. 3. Marfy, Mike and all.... I was elated to learn about Adeline's parents last night. I thanked Mike promptly and directly by email for his contribution to my research. I'm also greatly impressed with the list's familiarity with the people and history of Hunterdon. Makes me realize just how much I still need to learn on this subject. (Side note-- I spent 10 years researching my family, took a 12 year break, and only recently returned to this project!) Soon after learning of Adeline's parents, I began looking for Eve/Evelyn's first marriage. So far, nothing has surfaced. It made me wonder, though, if perhaps Eve/Evelyn was a Fox, and she dropped her married name upon the ending of that first marriage. After all, the Fox name stayed in the family when Jonathan and Adeline had their son and named him Jacob Fox Rake. Just seems slightly unusual to me. My Saturday is starting out great thanks to you. And the sun is shining here in Tacoma, Washington!
