I have the same problem. All I have is Owen and Mary Martin married in NYC at St. Michaels and the date. No information on who the parents are or where in Ireland they are from. I contacted the church, but they said they do not have records that old, they married around 1862 but the only info on the certificate is the date of marriage . By the time of the 1870 census they are living in Trenton NJ. Death records do not give parents info or where in Ireland they were born. Census records give no info on citizenship, its blank. Owen died in 1896 and the Obit is only a few lines. Mary's obit does not list anything about where she came from. I have no idea where to look. The church they belonged to in NJ, is in a bad neighborhood, and back then was more like a mission i've been told. They don't have records that far back either. All I can find is that: Michael Donovan was born in Ireland 1846, he married Mary Bridget Dacey 2-11-1872 at St Mary's in Jersey City. The census indicates Mary came over around 1863 and she had brothers James and Dennis(they were mentioned in her will), she was born 1846. Michael died in 1896 I am looking at when Michael Donovan became naturalized by researching an index from the LDS library. They seemed to always live in Hudson county, so I looked for naturalization papers for Michael Donovan filed in Hudson County. Today I ordered 4 more films to come to look at the Michael Donovans that I found. It takes abut 4 weeks for the film to come to Indianapolis. IS THERE A BETTER WAY TO DO THIS?? With Mary. I have found her name spelled Dacey, Daecy, Deasy, Daesy. I have her will and she left money to Dennis and James Dacey in Bayonne and her grandchildren HenryLeo & Helen Wrege in Jersey City. HOW CAN I FIND HOW SHE CAME OVER AND FROM WHERE?
